Abstract: A fluid retention device and method of use is defined for retaining surgical fluids used during surgical operation. The device includes a base and an outer wall attached to the base. The outer wall defines a retention area on the base. An inner wall may also be provided to further define the fluid retention area. The inner wall and/or outer wall may include a hollow interior that is selectively expanded to raise the outer wall from the base and to define an upstanding perimeter around the retention area. The retention area is sufficient to retain at least one medical personnel and an operating table, supporting a surgical patient. Access into the center of the device may be provided by a defined separation line radially across one side of the device. Sealing tape may be used to connect and seal the separation.
