Patent number: 7516196Abstract: A system, method and computer program for receiving real-time data from a content provider and delivering it to a user terminal while using the minimum amount of communication bandwidth possible. This real-time data may take the form of any frequently changing data such as stock prices. The user logs on the system and specifies a portfolio or stocks he is interested viewing. The user may also select active keys which are to be continuously observed. Upon receipt of the real-time data from the content provider, the system, method and computer program determine whether the real-time data has changed from the last update. If no changes have occurred to the real-time data values or the real-time data is not associated the currently active keys then there is no real-time data downloaded to the user. Only if there is a change in real-time data values associated with active currently active keys will the real-time data be transmitted to the user terminal.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2000Date of Patent: April 7, 2009Assignee: Nokia Corp.Inventors: Hemant Madan, Mikko Mäkipää, Oleg Beletski

Patent number: 7069208Abstract: A system and method for the concealment of errors resulting from missing or corrupted data in the transmission of audio signals in compressed digital packet formats is disclosed. The system utilizes a circular FIFO buffer to store audio frames from the transmitted audio signal, and a beat detector, to identify the presence of beats in the audio signal. The error concealment method replaces erroneous audio frames with error-free audio frames by a process which takes into account the presence and location of the detected beats.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2001Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Assignee: Nokia, Corp.Inventor: Ye Wang

Patent number: 7050980Abstract: A system and method for detecting beats in a compressed audio domain is disclosed where a beat detector functions as part of an error concealment system in an audio decoding section used in audio information transfer and audio download-streaming system terminal devices such as mobile phones. The beat detector includes a MDCT coefficient extractor, a band feature value analyzer, a confidence score calculator; and a converging and storage unit. The method provides beat detection by means of beat information obtained using both MDCT coefficients as well as window-switching information. A baseline beat position is determined using MDCT coefficients obtained from the audio bitstream which also provides a window-switching pattern. A window-switching beat position is compared with the baseline beat position and, if a predetermined condition is satisfied, the window-switching beat position is validated as a detected beat.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2001Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Nokia Corp.Inventors: Ye Wang, Miikka Vilermo

Publication number: 20020163938Abstract: The present invention relates to a data transmission method and apparatus for performing a data transmission between end terminals of a telecommunication network, particularly a data transmission between an origin server and a mobile client. The data is transmitted from at least one of the end terminals using the first data bearer. Then, data transmission is switched from the first to the second data bearer, if a predetermined bearer need condition has been determined or in order to obtain a subscriber identity used for gathering charging data. Thereby, the network service provided by the operator can be improved, since the bearer switching allows an increase of the overall speed of the data transmission, an adaptation of the bearer bandwidth to the data amount, and a provision of the subscriber identity. The first data bearer may be a USSD or SMS data bearer, and the second data bearer may be a circuit-switched data bearer or a GPRS bearer, or vice versa.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2002Publication date: November 7, 2002Applicant: Nokia Corp.Inventors: Petri Tuomainen, Teemu Tarnanen
