  • Patent number: 5381239
Abstract: The comb filter (13.1) in the chrominance signal transmission channel (6) on the playback side of a videorecorder contains--in parallel with its retarder circuit (14)--an adder circuit (15) and a subtracter circuit (25) that have their signal outputs connected to a comparator circuit (30). Comparing the enveloping curves of the output signals (Sc and Sd) of the adder and subtracter circuits, the comparator then produces a switching signal (Sf) to reverse an electronic switcher (31) whenever the level of the enveloping curve of the subtraction signal is greater than the level of the enveloping curve of the addition signal. To this end, the level conditions of the two signals are set in such a manner that the level of the enveloping curve of the subtraction signal associated with a transition from a white background to a chrominance signal of a given intensity is greater than the level of the enveloping curve of the addition signal associated with the same color transition.

  • Patent number: 5323469
Abstract: In order to stabilize conical loudspeakers, it is recommended according to the present invention that the underside (20) of the membrane (12) be joined by means of a stabilizing element (19) joined to the moving coil carrier (14). This triangular structure alone results in sufficient stabilization of the membrane. If, in addition, the underside (20) of the membrane (12) is supported by the stabilizing element (19) at a point at which the first radial oscillation mode occurs, premature decoupling of the outer regions of the membrane is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5315385
Abstract: The proposed method of broadcasting television signals is such that the phase of the carrier signal as modulated with the video signal is shifted through 180.degree. from one line to the next within a field. Measure ensures that the disturbance signal due to a transmitter operating in the same channel will produce opposite effects from one line to the next, i.e. a brightening in one line and a darkening in the next. These opposite disturbances of adjacent lines are then compensated by the vision of the viewer or by electronic circuits specially designed for this purpose, so that the picture data originating from the interfering transmitter will not be perceived by the viewer.

  • Patent number: 5306983
Abstract: A support device for a deflection unit (10) for a picture tube comprises pins (17) which in a longitudinal direction carry a thread (19) over part of their circumferences. The pins run in guide bores, which are constructed so as to exhibit a recess of not less than the angular circumference of the thread. Each pin is at first so aligned in relation to the associated guide bore that the thread runs in the above-mentioned recess. In this position (after the deflection unit has been aligned), each pin is pushed until it contacts the tube cone (18.K). Then each pin is turned by 90.degree., thus ensuring that the above-mentioned thread cuts into the non-recessed wall of the guide bore. This ensures that each pin is fixed in position, and simultaneously, due to the lead of the thread, a tension is set between deflection unit and tube. The support device thus constructed has the advantage that the tension force between the deflection unit and the tube cone can be set precisely.

  • Patent number: 5231493
Abstract: A video receiver is provided having a screen forecast journal with teletext data, collected from different broadcast stations and continuously updated with text pages at preset time intervals. The data is arranged in tables by programme identification and page identification and stored in memory devices, for accessing at any time. The page identifications are allocated to the programme slots, i.e. one programme identification with a page number each time. The tables can be accessed by page numbers for programmes not being transmitted at that time. A programme identification/page identification table proves beneficial for programming such page identifications. Pages are referenced by moving a cursor to margin areas of a text page. All programmes in the same time period can be paged through. Telecasts to be recorded can be selected from the pages of the forecast journal. Telecast data is transferred on a timer memory device.

  • Patent number: 5225240
Abstract: The covering (13) of a printing roller (10) for transferring hot glue printing material from a printing block to the front panel of a display consists of cast silicone rubber without any silicone fluid. The use of silicone-fluid-free silicone rubber ensures that the printing materials will adhere well to the panel even in a sequence of printings, because the adhesion properties of the panel will not have been reduced by silicone fluid that would otherwise have been transferred from the roller to the panel. Although the roller covering is devoid of silicone fluid as stripping agent, the printing material nevertheless separates readily from the covering, because the latter is cast and therefore has a very smooth surface.

  • Patent number: 5218265
Abstract: In a combined mask/frame for a colour picture tube, a mask is attached to a frame by means of spot welds which are positioned at the corners and adjacent to the long center axis and the short center axis. Of central importance is the fact that all spot welds are arranged as double spot welds instead of single spot welds which were usual until now. The single spot welds of each double spot weld are located basically at the same height of the mask skirt but are slightly separated from each other.

  • Patent number: 5202559
Abstract: For the purpose of forming a base bearing position (4), the inside of the bottom portion (10) of the ball-guiding socket housing (1) of a ball-and-socket switch, where this bottom portion defines a base plane, is provided with a pyramid-shaped recess (8) as the base bearing position of the switching ball (3) in a (horizontal) normal (or rest) position of the ball-and-socket switch. The base bearing position is formed by a circular recess in the area of the vertex (9) of the pyramid and defines a particular tilting angle (a) of the switching ball. The light transmission elements (16) and the light reception elements are arranged in light-tight chambers behind the side walls (14) of the internal space (6) of the socket housing, these chambers, for the purposes of light transmission, being connected to the internal space by means of apertures (20) in the side walls (14) terminating in rotation-symmetric recesses that narrow in the direction of the chambers.

  • Patent number: 5188870
Abstract: With a view to improving the resolution of passively controlled liquid crystal displays, the invention proposes that at least the orientation layer (14.1, 14.2) of one of the two substrate plates (3,4) of the liquid crystal display should be made up of a highly fluorated and preferably perfluorated, aliphatic polymer, which could be, among others, Teflon AF 1600 marketed by the Dupont Company. An orientation layer formed in accordance with the invention also makes it possible for organic dyestuffs to be used as the chromophore layer, because an orientation layer in accordance with the invention only requires heat treatment temperatures not exceeding 250.degree. C. The pretilt angles obtained by means of the orientation layers in accordance with the invention can be set during the manufacturing process and lie in the range between 25.degree. and about 90.degree..
