  • Publication number: 20140134961
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new apparatus and method for using a common local oscillator for multiple transceivers (e.g., in a BST unit). One or two shared local oscillators LOs/frequency sources in a wireless transceiver may be configured to generate corresponding one or more oscillator signals, so that the corresponding portions of the one or two oscillator signals generated by the one or two LOs may be provided to multiple transmitters and to multiple receivers through corresponding paths in the wireless transceiver. For example it may be a shared use of frequency sources/LOs between multiple pipes/branches of the BST (one local oscillator for all transmitters, and another local oscillator for all receivers in the multiple pipes/branches). The implementation may require proper routing, and amplification and/or frequency conversion if necessary, of the shared LO signals.

  • Patent number: 8717966
Abstract: A communications system includes a source, a destination, and multiple relays. In a first time period, the source emits a first transmission and a first relay retransmits a prior source transmission. Then, in a second, subsequent time period, the source node emits a second transmission and a second relay transmits the source transmission from the first time period. Optionally, the transmission from the second relay also includes the message from the first relay during the first time period. Similarly, in a third time period, the first relay transmits a message that includes the second relay's transmission and the second source transmission from the second time period. Alternatively, the source node transmit in a first frequency band, the first and second relays receive only in the first frequency band, and retransmit in a second frequency band, and the destination receives in both the first and second frequency bands.
