  • Patent number: 8036691
Abstract: A first signal containing first data multiplied by a first weight factor is transmitted from a first radio station to a first terminal. The first weight factor is calculated taking into account a second weight factor to be used by a second radio station for transmission of a second signal containing the first data multiplied by the second weight factor, such that simultaneous reception of both the first signal and the second signal at the first terminal will cause the first data to be substantially cancelled. Further, the first weight vector is calculated taking into account first and second channel state information received from the first terminal.

  • Patent number: 8031714
Abstract: A process of using a cache of outgoing packet identifiers to recover from a protocol error includes assigning a receive identifier associated with a user entity to a traffic stream at a receive node. The receive identifier is sent to a transmit node. The transmit node is instructed to associate the receive identifier with a receive plurality of data packets of the traffic stream. The transmit identifier associated with the user entity is assigned to the traffic stream at the transmit node. The transmit node identifier, the receive node identifier, and the address of the receive node are stored in a transmit cache at the transmit node for each of the receive plurality of data packets. The receive plurality of data packets is sent from the transmit node to the receive node. An error message is received at the transmit node from the receive node, indicating that the receive identifier was not recognized.

  • Patent number: 8032137
Abstract: A method of registration in a telecommunications system by a mobile station, which system includes a home location register for maintaining subscriber data and supports a first network, such as GSM, and a second network, such as GPRS. The home location register maintains the mobile subscriber data and a message is sent to the home location register for requesting the mobile subscriber data. The home location register maintains an access parameter which indicates whether the mobile subscriber is entitled to use the first network, the second network or both networks. In response to said message for requesting the subscriber data, the home location register sends the mobile subscriber data and also the access parameter. The network element that requested the mobile subscriber data uses said access parameter for restricting the access of the mobile subscriber only to a circuit-switched network and/or to a packet-switched network.

  • Publication number: 20110238547
Abstract: There is proposed a charging control in which a policy and charging control function provides first (preliminary) charging control information, such as PCC rules, when the communication connection is set up or modified. Then, service information can be retrieved leading to an updated set of charging control information. The policy and charging control function provides then the updated charging control information for enforcement, wherein the charging system is informed about both the preliminary nature of the first charging control information and the validity of the second charging control information for a time before the update, i.e. before the transmission of the second charging control information. The charging system can use this updated charging control information and knows that it has to replace the former charging control information, so that the charging procedure can be corrected accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8027261
Abstract: Network parameters are tracked in a communication network, particularly in a packet-based IP network. A traffic matrix for the network is regularly ascertained and a blocking probability for traffic subject to an access control is determined from a current traffic matrix. A check determines whether the blocking probability satisfies a criterion for scheduled network operation. If the criterion is not satisfied and/or redetermination for limits used as part of the access controls using the current traffic matrix does not result in a blocking probability satisfying the criterion then the current traffic matrix is used to determine a new link/cost metric for optimizing traffic transport through the network. New values for limits used as part of the access controls are determined based on the new link/cost metric. If the criterion is then satisfied with the limits fixed at the new values, the link weights are configured with the new link/cost metric in the network and the limits are stipulated at the new values.

  • Publication number: 20110229135
Abstract: An optical component contains a tunable laser. The tunable laser provides an optical local oscillator signal, and the tunable laser is directly modulated to provide a modulated optical data signal. In this manner we have optimization of the channel wavelength and obtain an optimized electrical and optical bandwidth utilization. Furthermore, a method for data processing is suggested.

  • Publication number: 20110222865
Abstract: The arrangement includes a transmitter (1-6) with two optical sources (1, 2) generating two optical carrier signals (L1, L2) having different frequencies. The optical carrier signals (L1, L2) are combined and divided in a first coupler (2) and fed to carrier signal inputs of two modulators (4, 5). The mixed carrier signals (L1+jL2, jL1+L2) are separately modulated by two modulation signals (a(t)) and (b(t)) and the modulated signals ((A1+jA2), (jB1+B2)) are combined in a first combiner and emitted as transmission signal (X(t)). Only on demodulator is necessary to regain the modulation signals (a(t), b(t)).

  • Publication number: 20110223882
Abstract: The generation of charging data and charging traffic is reduced during idle periods of an always-on connection. During the detection of idle periods on the always-on connection special data like ICMP messages, keep alive messages and polling messages is ignored and not counted as active traffic. When an idle period is detected the charging session related to the always-on connection is suspended for the duration of the idle period in order to reduce the generation of charging data related to the idle always-on connection without terminating the charging session. Further on the user is not billed for the detected periods where the always-on connection was idle.
