Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for establishing a connection to a terminal device, wherein a user capability information defining supported types of information streams is set in a compatibility information element within an outband signaling message, and a capability negotiation is performed by transmitting said outband signaling message via an outband control channel. The code or user capability information may be set at the terminal device or at an intermediate network element based on a subscriber profile information obtained from a subscriber database. Thereby, the user capability, such as a multimedia session composition, can be already negotiated or handled during the outband call setup phase, and a corresponding inband negotiation can be avoided.

Abstract: The invention relates to optimizing the efficiency of a power amplifier of a transmitter. The objectives of the invention are achieved with a solution in which a voltage level of an output signal of an amplifier stage (301, 302) is detected (305, 306) at a signal output of each amplifier stage and the detected information is used for controlling a supply voltage of each amplifier stage in a way so that the unnecessarily high levels of the supply voltages can be avoided thus improving efficiency of the power amplifier.
Abstract: A telephone comprises a first body part with a first keypad and a second keypad located on opposite sides of the first body part, and a second body part having a display. As the first body part is swiveled to bring the second keypad to the front of the phone the processing circuitry may switch over to only accept input from the keypad that has been brought up. This input is used to control the applications currently running.
Abstract: In a telecommunication system wherein both a first layer charging function and a second layer charging function are able to attend to the processing of the charging data of the first layer, there is a risk of the first twice. To ensure that a client is not unnecessarily charged twice for a first layer service, and to ensure that the first layer service will be charged for, the function controlling the second layer charging transmits, to the function controlling the first layer charging function, information (303) indicating whether the second layer charging function attends to the charging of both layers, and if so, double charging is prevented.
Abstract: A method for processing an incoming message in a handportable cellular telephone comprises looking up an identification of a sender of the message in a user-defined white list or black list before making the message available to the user of the telephone. The method thus allows for setting up a user-administrated spam filter for, e.g., SMS messages, e-mails, ringing tone or network setting messages. Access to the user-defined list may be password-protected, so as to prevent a user, such as a child, from amending the list, such amending being exclusively restricted to a person, such as a parent, administrating the phone. If the sender is not found in a user-defined white list, or if the sender is found in a user-defined black list, the message is discarded.
Abstract: A system for providing digital rights management of content, such as an electronic game, includes a network entity and a client. The network entity is capable of sending an authentication challenge randomly identifying at least a portion of content stored in memory of a client. For example, the network entity can be capable of sending an authentication challenge randomly identifying at least one location in memory of the client. In response to the authentication challenge, the client is capable of generating an authentication code based upon the content identified by the authentication challenge, such as by generating an authentication code based upon the content stored at the identified locations in memory of the client. The client can then return the authentication code to the network entity, which can thereafter authenticate the client based upon the authentication code.
Abstract: A method of adapting transmission parameters in a multicarrier communication system having multiple transmit antennas and/or multiple receive antennas, whereby a statistical parameter of a wideband channel is computed, one type of matrix modulation scheme is selected to be used for a given multicarrier modulation symbol, one type of signal constellation is selected to be used for a given multicarrier modulation symbol, and one concatenated channel coding rate is selected to be used for a given multicarrier modulation symbol. Multicarrier modulation symbols are then transmitted using the selected matrix modulation scheme, signal constellation, and concatenated channel coding rate.
Abstract: The invention relates to a policy translator for a telecommunication network. The system includes an interface between the policy translator and a policy repository storing existing policies for one or more telecommunication networks, an interface between the policy translator and one or more gateways over which interface the policy translator can receive from a gateway a request for a policy check (naming a source and destination network, the user and the service requested) and over which interface the policy translator can send a response after evaluating the request (“Permit”, “Permit, but Modify” or “Deny”), an interface between the policy translator and a subscriber database of a telecommunication network, an interface between the policy translator and a charging element for exchanging charging related information.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method and device for charging a battery at elevated temperatures. More specifically the present invention pertains to a method and a device capable of using the method to charge a battery at elevated temperatures, comprising by determining a temperature of at least one cell of a battery to be charged, and limiting the charging voltage applied to said battery to a maximum charging voltage in accordance with said determined temperature.
Abstract: A user is prevented from accidentally activating a mobile telephone (101). By detecting a change of state of motion of the telephone, followed by determining an absence of user-induced activity in the telephone and, depending on the detected change of state of motion and depending on the determined absence of user-induced activity, an input means-lock function in the telephone is activated.
Abstract: A content distribution system is described in which indicia defining a level of copyright control are encapsulated together with content to which it relates in a datagram for a delivery over a network. Depending on the level of copyright control defined by the indicia, a terminal receiving the content is restricted in the operations it can carry out on the content including saving, reading and forwarding the content.
Abstract: The invention concerns signalling methods in cellular telecommunication systems, especially in so called third generation cellular systems, such as the UMTS system. In the inventive method the network checks, if the mobile station is in or is about to enter into such a state, in which the mobile station needs a c-RNTI, and if that is the case, the c-RNTI is indicated to the mobile station. Preferably, the indication is effected by attaching the c-RNTI identifier to a message, which causes the change of the mobile station to the state, in which the mobile station needs the c-RNTI identifier.
Abstract: A communication system and a method and a server for a communication system is disclosed. The communication system comprises communication means for providing communication media for a plurality of user equipment, a storage entity (21) adapted to store information that associates with at least one of said user equipment, and at least one service provision entity (28) adapted to serve a client based on information stored in said storage entity. The storage entity (21) is arranged to receive information associated with the user equipment from other entities (22, 23) and to associate said received information with a respective user equipment.

Abstract: A message exchange session between wireless communication terminals via a wireless network is initiated from one of the terminals. The user of the initiating terminal invites at least one other communication terminal to participate in the message exchange session. This is done by forwarding a message text to said at least one other communication terminal. The user of the other terminal responds to received message by inputting a message text for replying to the received message. Then the responding terminal automatically adds the inputted reply message text to the received message text, whereby the aggregate message text includes the message exchange session history, and the aggregate message text is then transmitted to the other communication terminals being party to the message exchange session.
