Abstract: A method of encoding data comprising: a) converting a first data set, representing pixels of a first image in an RGB format, to a second data set, representing pixels of the first image in an intensity-color format; b) discarding color data from the second data set to create a reduced second data set; c) converting a third data set, representing pixels of a second image in an RGB format, to a fourth data set, representing pixels of the second image in the intensity-color format; d) discarding color data from the fourth data set to create a reduced fourth data set; and e) combining the reduced second data set and the reduced fourth data set. A method of decoding to produce 3D image data and a method of decoding to produce 2D image data.
Abstract: A method and system for employing the time stamp and SACK options in TCP and SCTP to modify their operation to initially only send new or lost packets, after a network timeout has occurred. Wireless network resources are saved by reducing the number of packets that are resent to a destination. In particular, the invention detects whether an acknowledgement from a destination is associated with the originally sent packet or a resent packet and uses this information to modify the operation of the protocol to reduce congestion on the network.
Abstract: A base station in a mobile communication network, includes at least one transmission line for transmitting a radio frequency signal. Each transmission line includes a coupling hole. A two-port coupled line includes one or more coupling holes. Each transmission line and the coupled line are couplable to form a coupling by setting the coupling hole of the transmission line against the coupling hole of the two-port coupled line. The coupling enables a signal sample of the radio frequency signal to propagate from the transmission line to the two-port coupled line.

Abstract: The invention relates to a circuit arrangement (4) for a PLL to be used in a terminal (50) of a time division cellular network. In a PLL according to the invention, the control voltage (32a) to a VCO (33) in the PLL is kept at a desired value also during time slots in which the terminal is not receiving or transmitting messages. The settling time for a PLL according to the invention is shot and the spurious effects caused by the power up thereof are small. The invention further relates to a method of operation for a PLL.
Abstract: An approach provides for limiting power adjustment in a wireless system (e.g., cellular network) to extend, for example, talk time. Parameter values specifying operating conditions of the wireless terminal are collected for power adjustment of a radio frequency (RF) amplifier within the wireless terminal. A power adjustment factor is computed based on the parameter values, wherein the power adjustment factor is used adjust limiting power of the RF amplifier.
Abstract: A packet data transmission network system is disclosed which comprises a receiver (1), a sender (2) for transmitting data packets to the receiver (1) through a packet data connection via a network element (3). The receiver (1) acknowledges each received data packet by an acknowledgment message which contains header data comprising a window size, the number of transmitted bytes for which the sender (2) has not received an acknowledgment from the receiver (1) being not allowed to exceed the window size. The network element (3) buffers data packets transmitted by the sender (2) and examines and modifies the header data. According to the invention, the network element (3) detects transmission conditions and modifies the window size accordingly.
Abstract: An erasure information table includes one element for each column of a data frame, stored in an IP datagram buffer and in an RS data buffer, instead of an element for each element of that column. Thus, CRC checking is performed against datagrams, instead of individual elements, of a received data frame, and effective error correction can be carried out by a Reed Solomon decoder. The effectiveness of the error correction is decreased since errors will be indicated as being present when actually an error is present in another row. The amount of memory needed to stare the erasure information though is reduced. In another embodiment, a linked list includes an element for each series of datagrams which have the same error status (i.e. reliable or unreliable). Each element includes the start address of the first datagram in that sequence and indicates the error status. Different lists may be used for application data and for parity data.
Abstract: A method of managing a data transmission in a telecommunications network, said method comprising: monitoring the data transmission associated with a connection; saving information associated with the data transmission; and after a discontinuity in the data transmission, the connection is maintained or released based on the saved information.
Abstract: A mobile device, method and computer program product are provided for displaying a predefined subset of images captured on a display screen of a mobile device, thus eliminating the need to access a gallery, or image storage, application installed on the mobile device and, in some instances, open the mobile device, in order to view recently captured images. In particular, a user is able to define the subset of the images to be displayed as, for example, all images taken within the last day, week, month or even year, or all images taken at a certain location or at the location corresponding with the most recently captured image. Depending upon how the user has defined the subset, the mobile device will automatically update the subset of images displayed based upon the occurrence of various events (e.g., where the oldest picture of the subset was taken more than one day ago).
Abstract: A handheld electronic device hinge for mechanically connecting first and second rotatable body members of a handheld electronic device, said hinge comprising a first bracket and a second bracket, wherein said first bracket comprises: a first connecting member for connecting to the first rotatable body member of the handheld electronic device for rotation around a first axis; and a second connecting member connected to the second bracket for rotation of said second bracket around a second axis, said first and second axes being parallel to each other, and wherein said second bracket comprises a third connecting member for connecting to the second rotatable body member of the handheld electronic device for rotation around a third axis, said third axis being perpendicular to said first and second axes.

Abstract: Provided are apparatuses and methods for delivering service guide information to a mobile terminal via a presence server. In one example, a presence server receives information including service guide information corresponding to a program or service from a program source and store the received information under a presence identifier. The stored information may be delivered to a mobile terminal subscribing to a corresponding presence service. Alternatively, service guide information may be provided by another channel or backchannel.
Abstract: A method and computer program for managing and presenting a visual history of web pages accessed by a user. This method and computer program is able to create a screen of thumbnail snapshots of web pages for presentation to a user. These thumbnail snapshots are reduced images of the actual web pages themselves that the user has visited. Associated with each thumbnail snapshot is a universal resource locator for the web page. The history of the web pages visited may be displayed in a toolbar which is scrollable.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, network entity, system and computer program product are provided for content sharing. In particular, a technique is provided whereby an individual desiring to share content including, for example, photograph albums, music or video files, or the like, need only select the individual(s) with whom he or she would like to share the content, and the device on which he or she is operating will determine all of the necessary protocols, connectivity bearers, and the like, for sharing the content, as well as the appropriate device with which the content should be shared.
Abstract: A method is provided for generating a graphical image string that is capable of conveying an intended message. In particular, a user is enabled to select one or more graphics from a graphic language database, wherein the annotations (or descriptions) associated with each graphic selected can be combined to convey the intended message. A common sense augmented translation of the combined graphics can be performed in order to convert the graphical image string into a text message. In addition, the opposite translation may similarly be performed in order to generate a graphical image string, or graphic SMS or MMS message, IM, E-mail, or the like, from a text message. A corresponding electronic device, network entity, system and computer program product are likewise provided.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for routing communication requests based on user presence information. A network entity subscribes to the presence information of a user, and receives notifications of the users' presence information when the user has registered with the network or the presence information has changed. In response, the network entity creates routing instructions based on the presence information. In this manner, incoming communication requests can be appropriately routed according to the routing instructions.
