  • Patent number: 11916620
Abstract: A radio network sends downlink signaling to a user equipment (UE) that triggers an enhanced uplink beam selection protocol, based on quality of the UE's uplink signaling the network receives according to a basic uplink beam selection protocol. In response the UE transmits pre-defined signaling such as uplink beam references signals (U-BRS) with uplink beams according to the downlink signaling. The network measures and selects one or more of those uplink beams for the UE to use for sending uplink data, and notifies this selection to the UE. In various embodiments the basic uplink beam selection protocol is based on uplink-downlink reciprocity, the downlink triggering signaling is dynamic and further selects a subset of uplink beams, and multiple UEs can be triggered in common signaling where blind decoding by the UEs is enabled via a scrambling ID for this enhanced uplink beam selection protocol purpose.

  • Patent number: 11916799
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for reducing latency in 5G/NR are provided. One method may include determining, by a network node, to apply selective reordering of one or more data units received at a user equipment, and indicating the decision to apply selective reordering to the user equipment. The selective reordering temporarily alters packet data convergence protocol window behaviour in the user equipment such that a packet data convergence protocol layer in the user equipment is caused to deliver, to upper layer(s), the stored data units with an associated count value that is less than the count value associated with a data unit at the user equipment and/or the stored data units with consecutively associated count values starting from the count value associated with a data unit at the user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20240064326
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and computer programs are provided for utilizing motion prediction in video coding. A block of pixels of a video representation encoded in a bitstream is read, and a type of the block is determined. If the determining indicates that the block is a block predicted by using two or more reference blocks, a first reference pixel location in a first reference block is determined and a second reference pixel location in a second reference block is determined. The first reference pixel location is used to obtain a first prediction. The first prediction has a second precision, which is higher than the first precision. The second reference pixel location is used to obtain a second prediction, which also has the second precision. The first prediction and the second prediction are combined to obtain a combined prediction; and the precision of the combined prediction is reduced to the first precision.

  • Patent number: 11909656
Abstract: A CPU implements a virtual network function (VNF) associated with flow processing and can offload at least some of the flow processing to a hardware accelerator. A module (e.g., TOR switch), external to the software-based processor and the hardware accelerator, examines packet flows and determines (e.g., using a top-K elephant-flow-detection algorithm) which ones are more suitable for offloading from the software-based processor to the hardware accelerator than others. The external module communicates the relative suitability for offloading to the CPU using packet tags or out-of-band messaging, and the CPU uses the relative suitability to determine which flows to offload or onload. In some implementations, the CPU can instruct the external module to change the value of K used in the algorithm.
