Patent number: 5903993Abstract: An apparatus for displaying a banner includes left and right end pieces, each including a hinged bracket. Each bracket includes a guide portion having a substantially planar guide surface, and a hook portion. Cross-members extend between the end pieces to form a generally rectangular display fame. A light bar is provided which fits into cut-away portions of the brackets. A second display frame with brackets is also provided with cut-away portions for the light bar.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1997Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventors: John R. Patent number: 5486043Abstract: A carrying case assembly includes a carrying case portion provided with a first interior cavity and a first top opening and a step stool portion provided with a second interior space and a bottom opening. The bottom of the step stool portion is attached to the top of the carrying case portion such that the first and the second interior space, together, form a third interior space. The step stool portion is removable from the carrying case portion and is adapted to support a person thereon.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1994Date of Patent: January 23, 1996Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventors: Arthur G. Carr, Christopher A. Durgin, William D. Griffiths, J. Alexander Hill

Patent number: 5402738Abstract: A collapsible counter assembly conceals and is supported by one or more members forming a support surface. The counter assembly includes a counter top structure including a top panel and one or more ribs defining one or more inwardly directed corners, the ribs extending downwardly from a bottom side of the top panel. One or more side portions extend around and are fastenable to the ribs to form a wall surrounding one or more members forming a support surface. Vertical side edges of the one or more side portions are attached together in one or more lap seams, each lap seam having an exterior edge disposed vertically below the one or more inwardly directed corners, thereby hiding the exterior edge.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1994Date of Patent: April 4, 1995Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventors: Arthur G. Carr, Christopher A. Durgin

Patent number: 5388382Abstract: Disclosed is a display panel apparatus (19) in which a flexible panel (15) has attached rigidifying beams (20). The rigidifying beams (20) have a plurality of hinged strips (21, 22, 23) which are attached to the panel (15) along its longitudinal edge(s). Magnetic strips are provided for maintaining the beams 20 in their operative state. The rigidifyed panel (19) may be used in connection with a collapsible support framework (11). A free-standing configuration of the display panel assembly (37) is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1990Date of Patent: February 14, 1995Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventor: Harry M. Brooks

Patent number: 5044595Abstract: A kit for constructing a collapsible podium which includes a laterally pliable yet longitudinally rigid panel such as tambour and a top plate with a circumferential channel into which one of the conformable edges of the panel is operably receivable by using a sloped guiding wall on the plate. The kit may also include a bottom plate with a circumferential channel into which the other conformable edge of the panel is operably receivable by using a sloped guiding wall.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1989Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventors: Arthur G. Patent number: 4970841Abstract: A system of construction comprising a plurality of modules. The modules have a plurality of struts and pivots joining the struts so that they are moveable between a collapsed condition in which the struts are bundled in generally parallel relation and an expanded condition. In the expanded condition certain of the pivots define face pivots lying in a planar array at one side of the module. The modules are arranged such that pairs of the face pivots of adjacent modules are adjacent to each other. The adjacent face pivots are joined by removable connectors. The connectors join the modules to form a three dimensional structure and simultaneously define corner recesses. At least one panel is held in place by a plurality of the corner recesses.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1985Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventor: Theodore R. Patent number: 4437275Abstract: Self-supporting structures and panels of diverse shapes are disclosed in which basic assemblies of crossed rod elements are employed to achieve the desired shape. Further, the crossing points of crossed rod elements in the structure involved may include limited sliding connections which effect transfer of collapsing force to other crossing points which are pivotally joined. An improved hub structure for pivotally joining ends of the rod elements at the outer and inner apical points is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1981Date of Patent: March 20, 1984Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventor: Theodore R. Patent number: RE31641Abstract: A collapsable, articulated wall structure is formed from pivotally interconnected links. In an erected configuration, the wall has a generally planar face which is suitable for hanging display posters. In a collapsed configuration, the wall folds into a compact bundle of generally parallel links. The wall is comprised of a plurality of rectangular parallelpiped sections. Each section has a first plurality of pivots in the four corners defining a face of the section and a second plurality of pivots on the other four corners of the section. The first plurality of pivots is connected with the second plurality of pivots by a plurality of side links which are pivotally interconnected in an X-shaped arrangement. Displaced slightly inward from the face plane is a face pivot which is connected to the first plurality of pivots by four face links. The section is releasably locked in its erected configuration by a locking link.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1982Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: Nomadic Structures, Inc.Inventor: David L.
