Abstract: A microsieve includes a patterned forest of vertically grown and aligned carbon nanotubes with a patterned matrix of vertically aligned pores. A conformal coating of substantially uniform thickness coats the nanotubes defining coated nanotubes. An interstitial material infiltrates the carbon nanotube forest and substantially fills interstices between individual coated nanotubes. The interstitial material can be a metal material infiltrated by electroplating.

Abstract: The present invention provide a method for analyzing the DSG3 overexpression in tumor tissues with clinical features of cancer cells to validate that DSG3 overexpression is relates to size, depth and migration of tumor. Therefore, DSG3 overexpression is capable for using in clinical applications, determining malignant degree of tumor, serving as molecular target in Head Neck Cancer (HNC). Moreover, a jamming sequence, RNA, is designed to act on DSG3 mRNA and is effective inhibition-specific DSG3 expression, and then inhibits cell growth, invasion and migration in HNC.

Abstract: A low-concentration atropine solution for preventing myopia progression contains an atropine concentration less than 0.1% (w/w). Preferably, the atropine concentration is 0.05% (w/w) in optimal situation. The low-concentration atropine solution in treatment causes less photophobia and systemic side-effects to patients and has excellent compliance to reduce damages from ultraviolet and hazard blue light and to avoid visual morbidities such as cataract and retinal macula lutea deterioration.

Abstract: A therapeutic microencapsulation for embedding parathyroid live cells with TheraCyte® and a manufacturing method are disclosed, where in the agent is made by embedding at least 4×105 parathyroid live cells with TheraCyte®. The achieved agent can be planted into mammal objects for treating osteoporosis in long-term. The manufacturing method is characterized by immerging the parathyroid live gland in composition of Roswell Park Memorial Institute solution (85%), dimethyl sulfoxide (10%) and fetal calf serum 5% and depositing in ?179° C. liquid nitrogen. The frozen parathyroid gland is sliced to pieces to isolate the live cells after unfreezing and then the parathyroid live cells are embedded with TheraCyte® to achieve the therapeutic microencapsulation.

Abstract: A method for power saving routing in wireless networks is disclosed. The present invention calculates a distance to a destination node to select and estimate candidate nodes so as to reduce the amount of calculations in the event of routing. Furthermore, the invention repeats the algorithm by optimum value n so that accessibility to the destination node can be obtained. This enables more efficient routing.
Abstract: A method of handling a database for bioinformatics is disclosed. A server receives a sequence to be compared and analyzed from the user terminal to store it in a queue. When there exist other sequences to be compared and analyzed, the server reads the sequence of the current order from the database to compare it with all of sequences stored in the queue. That is, the server accesses the database once to use it for all of user requests currently being processed. Because the server accesses the database only once for each user request, the average system cost and response time are decreased. Furthermore, the threshold of the user request arrival rate that can be received on the same hardware in the present invention is higher compared to the convention method, so that larger amount of users can be provided the comparison/analysis service.
