  • Patent number: 4647358
Abstract: A current-feeding cathode-mounting device comprises a metal-sheathed carrying rail of copper and a permanent cathode plate consisting of the same material as the sheath and joined by welding at least along part of a longitudinal edge and wherein at least an end portion of the rail is unsheathed at least along part of its extent. In order to increase the creep strength and durability and to ensure a low-resistance contact, the carrying rail consists of a hollow copper section, the sheath consists of special steel, the sheath is joined to the carrying rail by a diffusion-preventing non-porous weld, and the permanent cathode of special steel is joined to the sheath by an interrupted seal weld. The carrying rail consists suitably of a copper tube.

  • Patent number: 4615351
Abstract: The impedance of a zone above bulk material in a bin is measured as a probe is reciprocated toward and away from the material in this zone. The direction-change location of the probe which corresponds to the measured impedance reaching a set point value, is detected and utilized to provide the control signal for automatically replenishing the material in the bin.

  • Patent number: 4614640
Abstract: Copper(II) hydroxide is produced by a reaction of copper oxychloride in an aqueous suspension with alkali hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide in the presence of a stabilizing agent and the product is separated and washed. To improve the stability of the copper hydroxide and to avoid a black coloring by copper oxide, inorganic silicon compounds which contain hydroxyl groups (SiOH) in the molecules or form such groups in an aqueous medium are added to the suspension. It is desirable to use particulate solid silicic acids or silicic acids which are soluble in water or colloidally dissolved.

  • Patent number: 4560702
Abstract: The invention relates to novel organotin mercaptides and their preparation. The novel organotin mercaptides are particularly suitable as pesticides. In order to increase the biological activity and to ensure that there will be no damage to plants, a sulfur-containing organotin compound which constitutes the active ingredient of a pesticide consists of tricyclohexyltin alkanyl mercaptide or tricyclohexyltin alkenyl mercaptide. The alkanyl chain or alkenyl chain contains 6 to 25 carbon atoms and may be substituted and/or branched. The substituent may consist of halogen or the nitro group. The active ingredient of the pesticide consists particularly of tricyclohexyltin octyl mercaptide, tricyclohexyltin-2, 2-dipropylheptyl mercaptide, tricyclohexyltindodecyl mercaptide, or tricyclohexyltin undecenyl mercaptide. The agent is used for the control of acarina and insects, particularly mites and ticks.

  • Patent number: 4404169
Abstract: In a process of producing cupric hydroxides, products having a high stability in storage will be obtained if phosphate ions are added to a suspension of copper oxychloride in an aqueous phase, the copper oxychloride is then reacted with alkali metal hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, and the cupric hydroxide precipitated as a result of the suspension is washed and then re-suspended and subsequently stabilized by the addition of acid phosphate to adjust a pH value of 7.5 to 9. The suspended copper oxychloride is preferably reacted in the presence of phosphate ions in an amount of 1 to 4 grams per liter of the suspension and at a temperature of 20.degree. to 25.degree. C. and the resulting cupric hydroxide is stabilized with phosphate ions in an amount of 3 to 6 grams per liter of the suspension.
