Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method for washing filter-cakes and a spray nozzle intended for use with the method. The invention provides a method of washing filter-cakes transported by a rotary belt filter, the filter-cake being caused to pass along a washing station by means of a conveyor belt having longitudinally extending side ridges and being smoothed by means of a doctor, in which method washing liquid is dispersed over the filter-cake and caused to pass there through by means of a vacuum on the undersurface of the filter-cake, wherein washing liquid is supplied to the filter-cake in the form of a laminar flow across the major portion of the width of the filter-cake, said flow having a slight turbulence in a zone adjacent each side ridge.
Abstract: An arrangement in endless-belt type filters having longitudinally extending vacuum suction boxes arranged beneath the rotating belt, said suction box having the form of a channel provided with side walls a surface of the upper edge of each of which abuts sealingly, during operation of the filter, with the undersurface of the rotating belt, so as, through perforations in the belt, to cause transportation of liquid from a solid material on the upper surface of a filter cloth lying on the belt to the suction box under the influence of the vacuum, the rotating belt being supported by support bars on either side of the suction box, the arrangement being characterized in that, to enable the suction box to be inspected and cleaned, said box is removeably arranged on a pivotable arm by means of which the box can be swung away from the position in which a surface on the upper edges of the channel sealingly abut, during operation of the filter, the upper surface of the rotating belt, to a further position in which the
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method of fitting a belt to a filter assembly of the endless belt type having belt-tensioning means in which a belt blank, the end portions of which are at least only partially vulcanized and which have disposed therein recesses arranged to receive in friction locking manner connecting members having an end portion whose configuration corresponds to the configuration of its receiving recess, is placed in position in the assembly around said belt-tensioning means such that the ends of said belt lie adjacent each other, whereafter the connecting members are inserted in respective recesses to form an endless belt having a friction-locked joint, the ends of said belt are fully vulcanized, and the belt is tensioned. The invention also encompasses a belt blank adapted to be used in the method as given above.
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method of distributing sludge to be filtered, to the filter surface of an endless-belt filter, so as to maintain a uniform solids content of said sludge. The incoming sludge is in this connection charged to a sludge receiving means in which the sludge is divided into two part-flows such that one of said part-flows contains a higher percentage of solids than the other, whereafter the two part-flows are united and the resultant flow discharged to said filter surface.
