Abstract: A door machine for preparing a door for hanging by automatically sizing, drilling the lock and latch holes, and forming the face plate mortise in an edge of the door. The apparatus includes a support frame to which are mounted motor-driven elements, controlled to operate in a predetermined sequence, that size (i.e., cut to a specific transverse dimension) the door and form the lock bore, latch hole, and the face plate mortise in or proximate a free edge of the door. A power-feed mechanism is included for transporting the door from an input station to a drill station. Hydraulic power is used to drive certain elements of the apparatus, including the drills used to form the lock bore and the latch hole.
Abstract: Automatic apparatus for attaching together individual doorstops and doorjambs in relative registered, longitudinal alignment includes hoppers for containing vertical stacks of the stops and jambs, a transport mechanism that reciprocally withdraws individual ones of the stops and jambs from the vertical stacks and transports the withdrawn stop and jamb to a work station, a registering device for positioning the distal ends of the jamb and stop in relative, adjacent registration, clamp apparatus located at the work station that receives, clamps and longitudinally aligns the stop to the jamb, and a number of linearly aligned air nailers overlying and, in effect, defining the work station for dispensing nails used to attach the stop to the jamb while held by the clamp apparatus.
Abstract: A door hinge applying unit for supporting and releasably holding a door and the hinge jamb of the door frame in positions alongside each other with the butt-receiving surfaces of the door and jamb coplanar for applying the butts of a butt hinge, which unit includes a butt mortiser for simultaneously forming the mortises for said butts, a drilling device for forming the holes for the screws to secure said butts in said mortises, and a screw driving assembly for holding the hinge to be applied with the butts thereof opposed to said mortises, and for holding the screws for securing said butts in said holes in alignment with the latter.
