Patents Assigned to Norsolor (Orkem Group)
  • Patent number: 5162462
Abstract: Process for the production of aminoplast resins. The process entailing the addition of ureido-2-diamino-4,6-triazine-1,3,5, and optionally melamine, to aminoplast resin. Preferably the triazine is added in a proportion of at least 10% by weight. The resultant aminoplasts can be used to make panels from particles.

  • Patent number: 5034500
Abstract: Urea-formaldehyde resins, particularly useful for producing particle boards having lower rates of release of formaldehyde are synthesized in several stages including a stage of further condensing a first condensate having a F/U molar ratio of 1.8-2.3 and which was condensed at a pH of between 6 and 8. The further condensing is conducted at a pH of between 6 and 8 until a cloud point with water is reached at 10.degree.-40.degree. C. making it possible to obtain resins which are reactive and stable during storage.

  • Patent number: 5008365
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a urea-formaldehyde resin exhibiting reduced gel time and improved stability, wherein the resin contains not more than 10% melamine, which is added during the first stage of the reaction with the other reactants, and wherein the reaction is conducted at an acidic pH.

  • Patent number: 4997905
Abstract: The preparation of aminoplastic resins containing melamine, having very low rates of formaldehyde emission, and being particularly useful for the production of particle boards. In a second stage of the process for preparing the resin, additional NH.sub.2 (melamine and urea) is added to a conventional condensate solution at an increased pH between 6 and 9 so as to lower the F/NH.sub.2 molar ratio to between 0.5 and 0.9. Urea is added in a third stage to obtain an F/NH.sub.2 of between 0.30 and 0.50, with the optional addition of borax.

  • Patent number: 4917734
Abstract: The present invention relates to grafted ethylene polymers and copolymers characterized in that they are thermoplastic and, if appropriate, crosslinkable and soluble at ambient temperature in organic solvents and/or aqueous media and in that they are prepared by polymerization of (in % by weight relative to the resin obtained):0.5 to 30% of at least one unoxidized polyethylene and/or an unoxidized ethylene copolymer based on at least 70% by weight of ethylene, the said polyethylene or ethylene copolymer being defined by the following properties:a weight average molecular weight (Mw) between 900 and 60,000,a Brookfield viscosity at 190.degree. C. of between 0.1 and 500 poises and/or a Brookfield viscosity at 140.degree. C. of between 0.1 and 2,000 poises.a crystallinity, measured using X rays, of between 10% and 80%,and, if desired, containing ester, anhydride or acid functional groups originating from the ethylene comonomers,70 to 99.
