Abstract: A reinforced bulk materials container having a first wall-forming blank scored to provide main panels foldably joined together at a plurality of corners with each main panel having a foldably joined bottom flap. A wear reducing member attaches along the score for the bottom flaps and overlaps lateral portions of the flaps and the panels. A second wall-forming blank of corrugated paperboard defining panels laminates to the first wall-forming blank and includes members fixedly attached about a perimeter of each panel and a filler pad within the perimeter defined by the members. The wear reducing member resists the bottom edges of the container from wearing through caused movement of the container on rough surfaces.

Abstract: A container for leaf product and other bulk pack materials wherein a blank of corrugated paperboard is scored to define side walls of the container, and a field of passageways are defined in at least one side wall of the container by a conical pin punch-pressed from opposing sides of the blank to define a passageway for communication of moisture from the container to the atmosphere for drying and long term storage of the leaf products. A method of defining passageways in the blank of paperboard is disclosed.

Abstract: A packing container for enclosing heavy durable goods for storage and shipping having a base frame for supporting an article to be packaged. A pair of opposing wing-end panels are received at opposing ends of the base frame with each wing-end panel comprising a sheet of corrugated paperboard scored to define an end panel separating two side wing panels. A cleat attaches at each side edge and at the scores on each sheet. The side panels fold as wings to cover portions of the opposing sides of the container while leaving a gap on each side between the side edges of the two opposing side wing-end panels. A top frame is received by the pair of opposing wing-end panels. A method of packaging goods in a container is disclosed.

Abstract: A hinged-corners unitary collapsible wood cleated crate for packaging heavy goods with a tubular body engaged to a base and top frame. The tubular body is formed of a pair of opposing side frames and a pair of opposing end frames, which frames each have a pair of horizontal rails connected to a pair of vertical side slats at respective overlapping aligned distal ends. Each frame includes at least one diagonal cross-member extending between and attached to the pair of horizontal rails. The side frames and the end frames join together in alternating spaced-apart sequence by a plurality of hinge plates that interconnect one of the pair of vertical slats in one of the side frames with one of the pair of vertical slats in an adjacent end frame. The hinge plates are planar sheets of a weather-resistant material, which are scored to allow the tubular body to knock-down for storage and shipping, and unfold to form a volumed body for packaging heavy goods held on a base.

Abstract: A tubular corrugated paperboard shipping container having a rigid base frame, a cleat-reinforced tubular corrugated paperboard body attached thereto, and a top frame. The corrugated paperboard body includes a pair of spaced-apart attaching strips fixed on opposing side wall panels of the body. One of the pair of attaching strips on each panel is disposed in alignment with a member of the base frame. The other one of the pair of attaching strips is positioned on the panel in alignment with the top frame. Staples driven through the paperboard wall and the attaching strips secure the paperboard container to the base frame and to the top frame to ensure against component separation, thereby providing a cleated container with improved structural rigidity. A plastic sheet in the top frame prevents dust and dirt from entry into the container.

Abstract: A reinforced container for bulk pack materials wherein a first blank of paperboard is bonded to a second blank of paperboard. A plurality of support members are fixedly secured between the first blank and second blank of paperboard so as to reinforce the container. The support members are preferably formed of wood and positioned near the corners of the container.
