  • Patent number: 5151179
Abstract: A faucet mounted water filtration unit having two tubular hollow legs depending from a base member with a coupler for attaching the unit to a faucet spout, with the spout straddled by the legs and the unit positioned about the faucet. One leg brings unfiltered water from the faucet spout attachment into the filter housing containing a replaceable cartridge. The other tubular leg brings filtered water from the filter unit to an outlet port. A diverter valve on the base allows one to bypass the filter unit to receive unfiltered water.

  • Patent number: 5040950
Abstract: A portable, high-pressure, power washing system is described which includes an electric motor driven gear pump where the electric motor is effectively water cooled by virtue of being contained in a thermally conductive housing surrounded by an insulating water jacket through which the water being pumped is made to flow before reaching the pump's inlet port. The pump is driven through a gear reduction mechanism such that a relatively inexpensive, single-phase, series AC (universal) motor normally operating at a high rpm can be employed. By proper dimensioning of the pump chamber relative to the drive and idler gears and by providing a flow divider at the pump chamber's discharge orifice, high pumping efficiency is obtained. Completing the assembly is a discharge wand for directing the high pressure water at the surface to be cleaned and for controlling the on/off state of the pump's drive motor.

  • Patent number: 4796776
Abstract: A pressure cooker for use in microwave ovens includes a microwave permeable bowl shaped container, a microwave permeable dome cover, and a steel locking ring permanently attached to the cover for maintaining the container and cover in fluid-tight seal during use. A safety valve, formed of flexible tubing, encounters a projection of the container and is deformed into a closed configuration responsive to movement of the cover, relative to the container, toward a locking position. A pressure regulator valve, consisting of a metal core surrounded by an elastically deformable casing, is positioned over a pressure control opening in the cover to maintain a selected operating pressure level in the pressure cooker. A pressure indicator and relief assembly, contained in a pressure release opening through the cover, indicates positive pressure in the chamber and is ejected in the event of an abnormally high pressure inside the housing.

  • Patent number: 4763567
Abstract: A corn popper includes a vessel open at the top, and a removable top cover. A handle integral with the cover includes a pistol grip portion relatively remote from the vessel when the cover is attached. A stirring mechanism, supported for rotation about a vertical axis within the vessel when the cover is attached, rotates responsive to the squeezing of a trigger mounted slidably with respect to the pistol grip section of the handle. The means for driving the stirring mechanism include a drive gear angularly fixed on the stirring mechanism, and a pinion movable linearly into and out of driving engagement with the drive gear, and also rotatable, by virtue of an extension of the trigger.

  • Patent number: 4746781
Abstract: A device for rotating food while cooked in a microwave oven includes a metal housing supported above the oven floor by dielectric feet, and a turntable mounted above the housing. The turntable is rotatable by virtue of a turntable shaft having downwardly extended legs forming a non-circular cross-section, insertable into a similarly configured bore within a drive shaft inside the housing. A detent, pivotally mounted beneath the housing, can be pivoted manually to a locking position in which an arm of the detent engages one of several notches formed in the turntable, to prevent further turntable rotation relative to the housing. A bearing assembly between the top of the housing and the turntable includes an annular frame, and a plurality of ball bearing-containing receptacles arranged symmetrically about the frame.

  • Patent number: 4642443
Abstract: A coffee brewing appliance for making coffee by the percolation method in microwave ovens. The coffee maker is provided with a perforated metal enclosure with rounded edges to contain and protect the ground coffee particles from burning or charring which would otherwise be induced by microwave energy. The perforations are small enough to exclude microwave energy. The coffee maker is also provided with a housing which is microwave transmissive and which separates and insulates the metal portion from the microwave oven bottom and side walls. The housing and pump structures enhance the percolator pump action.

  • Patent number: 4625087
Abstract: Locking mechanism for a mechanically driven, low profile, portable turntable for use in cooking ovens, especially microwave ovens, for rotating foodstuffs while cooking. The low profile turntable includes a spring which varies the height of the rotating portion of the turntable with respect to the base between a first predetermined position when there is no food or the like on the turntable and a second predetermined position when there is food on the turntable. The locking mechanism includes notches and prongs located on the rotating portion and base portion of the turntable which engage each other when the turntable is in the first predetermined position to prevent rotation of the turntable.

  • Patent number: 4523070
Abstract: A mechanically-driven, low-profile, portable turntable for use in cooking ovens, especially microwave ovens, for rotating food stuffs while cooking. All moving parts, except the power spring used to drive the turntable are formed from low loss plastic and the spring is contained in a microwave reflective case to preclude overheating thereof. The low profile is achieved by providing a unique drive mechanism for the turntable in which the power spring driven gear is made to partially surround and envelop the spring case. Further, the gear train cooperating with the main power spring driven gear and with a speed-controlling governor is effectively "wrapped" about the spring case in a concentric fashion with the individual gears in the gear train being vertically overlapped.

  • Patent number: 4496815
Abstract: A utensil for preparing food in a microwave oven. The utensil is provided with a ferritic-silicone coating upon a metal platter, which ferritic coating is covered by a silicone coating to prevent entry of air to the ferrite which would otherwise result in oxidation and degradation of the microwave heating properties of the ferrite. The metal platter rests upon and within a housing made of a material which is highly transmissive of microwaves and having a very low absorbence of microwave energy so that it remains cool. The housing serves to insulate the platter electrically and thermally from its surroundings.
