  • Patent number: 12332023
Abstract: The method and apparatus for a remote weapon station or incorporated into manually-aimed weapons. The methodology requires use of a muzzle velocity sensor that refines the aiming of the second and subsequent fires or volleys fired from weapon systems. When firing the first volley a weapon uses an estimated velocity and, at firing, the muzzle velocity of a projectile is measured. When firing the second volley a weapon's fire control calculates an aiming point using the measured velocity of the first volley.

  • Patent number: 12247810
Abstract: A projectile, that can be tracked by optical means, is fitted with a special tracer incorporated into the projectile's trailing edge. The rearward facing special tracer is incorporated into a metal disk which is crimped to the projectile's metal jacket. The special tracer includes micro-prismatic features that reflect light at the incidence angle. Alternatively, the disk incorporates a fluorescent dye that is responsive to a laser emission. External emitted radiation is reflected or re-emitted from the trailing edge of the projectile, allowing for an external electro-optic tracking device to identify the position of the projectile in flight.

  • Patent number: 12013220
Abstract: An ammunition cartridge comprised of a projectile inserted in, and mechanically connected to, a metal cartridge case assembly having a propulsion chamber and a base, and an energetic propellant disposed in the propulsion chamber, includes a base plug in which is mounted an igniter with an energetic primer. During manufacture of the cartridge, a fusible support ring is incorporated into a metal cavity. The cartridge base includes a cavity allowing the fusible material to solidify at ambient temperatures. When exposed to heat from an external fire, the fusible support plug liquefies losing its strength and subsequently, when a propellant or primer off-gasses or auto-ignites the pressure from the reaction ejects a metal plug or lid from the cartridge case base, creating a void that allows the propellant and primer to combust in an unconfined space.

  • Patent number: 11639845
Abstract: A cartridge incorporating a projectile assembly, the projectile assembly having a base, mid body component housing a marking powder and metallic nose cap. The projectile's mid-body component houses liquids in a cylindrical compartment, where set-back and rotation induce chemical mixing, and in flight allowing for a chemical reaction, and at impact the projectile undergoes wall failure in the mid body, resulting from shear and residual rotational momentum, the actions in combination releasing and expelling marking materials, the ejection suspended signature producing materials, including liquid, powdered metals or fine particles released into the atmosphere emit and reflect light, the signature materials producing an observable signature at the projectile's impact location.

  • Patent number: 10845172
Abstract: A cartridge incorporating a projectile assembly, the projectile assembly having a base, mid body component housing a marking powder and lighter metallic nose cap. The projectile's mid-body component undergoes wall failure at impact, the wall failure is induced as forward momentum of the base and other residual forces act to expel the marking powder from the projectile, the manner of ejection suspending a low density material with contrast dye, in the vicinity of the impact, providing a gunner with visual cue in regard to a projectile's impact location.

  • Patent number: 8319164
Abstract: A slow rolling projectile comprises a projectile body has a forward section and a rear section and having a longitudinal axis. Two or more canards in the forward section are capable of being extended from and retracted into the projectile body at predetermined frequencies and/or for predetermined times. Two or more tail fins in the rear section are fixed coextensive to or at an angle to the longitudinal axis, and an actuator extends and retracts the canards. The canards are capable of being extended and retracted at a rate based on the rotation of the projectile sufficient to correct for lateral movement. A GPS or INS navigational system activates an actuator to extend and retract the canards.
