    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preventing, treating or ameliorating pulmonary disorders in a patient receiving a chemotherapeutic or radiotherapeutic agent or treatment comprising administering to the patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of active vitamin D compound or a mimic thereof. According to the invention, the active vitamin D compound, or the mimic thereof, may be administered by HDPA so that high doses of the active vitamin D compound can be administered to an animal without inducing severe symptomatic hypercalcemia.
