Patent number: 11976762Abstract: A connector assembly and method of making a fluid-tight connection therewith is provided. The assembly includes a housing having a tubular wall bounding a bore extending between opposite first and second ends. The bore has first and second diameter portions with a shoulder extending radially therebetween. A covered portion of a channel extends from the housing second end toward the housing first end to an uncovered portion of the channel. A retainer is disposed in the bore. An indicator body, received in the channel, extends from the retainer outwardly to an indicator surface. A male connector has a tubular wall moveable in the bore between decoupled and coupled positions. A protrusion extends outwardly from the male connector tubular wall. The indicator surface is partially concealed within the covered portion of the channel when the male connector is in the decoupled position.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2022Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Novares US Engine Components, Inc.Inventors: Stefan Grujo, Chad Dickman, Matt Murphy

Patent number: 11873930Abstract: A locking quick connect assembly is provided for removably coupling a first tube and a second tube. A quick connect housing presents a central bore for receiving the second tube. A redundant latch component positionable between an unlocked position and a locked position may be provided to slidingly engage the quick connect housing. A twist lock retainer surrounds the quick connect housing and the redundant latch component. The redundant latch component includes an axially extending latch retaining arm and the twist lock retainer includes a locking channel for receiving the latch retaining arm. The twist lock retainer also includes a twist lock retaining arm that locks against a bead of the second tube to resists separation. The twist lock retaining arm extends transversely to and radially inwardly of the locking channel to engage the latch retaining arm to prevent unwanted decoupling of the assembly. A handle extends from the redundant latch component in a direction opposite the latch retaining arm.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2022Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: Novares US Engine Components, Inc.Inventors: Stefan Grujo, Christopher Schroeder

Patent number: 11247144Abstract: A degas bottle for a motor vehicle coolant system is provided. The degas bottle has a body defining an enclosed cavity bounded by an upper wall, a lower wall and a side wall extending between said upper and lower walls. An inlet extends into an upper region of the cavity proximate the upper wall and an outlet extending outwardly from a lower region of the cavity proximate the lower wall. An interior wall is disposed in the enclosed cavity. The interior wall extends from the upper wall toward the lower wall to a free end spaced from the lower wall. The interior wall has a vent opening proximate the upper wall and extends to the side wall on opposite sides of the inlet. A baffle is disposed between the interior wall and the inlet. The baffle extends from one of the upper wall or the lower wall to a free end spaced from the other of the upper wall or the lower wall.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2018Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: NOVARES US ENGINE COMPONENTS, INC.Inventors: Andrew Kison, Sangbong Ji, William P. Patent number: 11125368Abstract: A conduit connector and method of construction thereof is provided. The conduit connector includes a body having a through passage extending between open opposite ends and a tubular male port section extending axially to an end face of one of the ends. The tubular male section has an outer surface configured for connection to a tubular conduit and an inner surface bounding at least a portion of the through passage. The end face has an outer annular first surface extending radially inwardly from the outer surface and an inner annular second surface extending radially inwardly from the annular first surface toward the inner surface. The annular second surface forms a counterbore that is recessed axially a first distance from the annular first surface, wherein an annular bead extends from one of the annular second surface or the inner surface, with the entirety of the annular bead remaining recessed below the annular first surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2017Date of Patent: September 21, 2021Assignee: NOVARES US ENGINE COMPONENTS, INC.Inventors: Dane J. Patent number: 10865922Abstract: A quick connector for permanently locked, non-disconnectable receipt of a tubular male insertion member having a lock feature, and assembly therewith is provided. The connector includes a housing having a tubular wall with inner and outer surfaces extending between opposite ends with a locking feature extending into the inner surface. The inner surface bounds a through bore having an annular shoulder. A retaining member has an annular retainer wall with inner and outer surfaces. The retaining member outer surface is sized for receipt in the through bore of the housing wall. At least one locking member extends radially outwardly from the retainer wall outer surface for lock engagement with the locking feature to prevent relative axial movement between the housing wall and the retaining member. The retainer wall has at least one locking finger extending radially inwardly for locked engagement with the lock feature of the tubular male insertion member.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2017Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: NOVARES US ENGINE COMPONENTS, INC.Inventors: Chris Corbett, Scott Schwartz, William Kahabka, Tyler Walczak, Brandon Meister, Brian Schuessler, Matt Teschendorf, Tim Hammond
