  • Publication number: 20220298805
Abstract: There is provided an access panel for releasably covering an aperture in a structure, the access panel including a panel member having inner and outer sides, and a panel stop extending from said inner side. The access panel includes a mounting member attached to the inner side adjacent a first edge to engage the structure. The access panel also includes a movable clip member slidably mounted on the panel member. The clip member comprises a casing and a mounting flange secured to a first end of the casing. The casing is linearly movable over the panel stop. The mounting flange is adapted to engage the structure proximate an opposed second edge of the panel member. The access panel also includes a spring situated within the casing between the first end of the casing and the panel stop for biasing the clip member toward the second edge in use.

  • Patent number: 6658803
Abstract: An access door is suitable for installation in a structure such as a building and allows ready access to an enclosed region of the structure. The access door includes a door frame that can be mounted on the structure and that forms an access opening. A panel removably covers the access opening on an exterior side of the door frame. Two parallel connecting links are pivotably connected both to the door frame and to the panel in a manner permitting the panel to be moved from an open position where the access opening is uncovered to a closed position where the panel covers the access opening. A frame member connects the two links together in a rigid manner. One or more threaded fasteners can be used to detachably connect the panel so that it is secured in the closed position. In one embodiment, a single screw can detachably connect the panel to a pivotable connecting frame that includes the two links. In another version, the panel can be detachably and directly connected to the door frame by fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6618996
Abstract: An access panel for covering an aperture in a structure such as a wall includes a planar panel member having inner and outer sides and a mounting member attached to the panel member adjacent a first edge thereof The mounting member extends rearwardly from the inner side of the panel and is arranged to engage the structure. A movable clip member is mounted on the panel member and extends rearwardly from the inner side and this member is linearly movable in a direction parallel to the panel from a first position spaced from an edge of the panel to a second position closer to this edge. A spring biases the clip member towards the second position and yieldably holds the clip member in this position. Preferably the panel has a guide track formed therein and the clip member is mounted for sliding movement along this track.

  • Patent number: 5669190
Abstract: A detachable panel or grill for covering an opening in panelling of a wall or ceiling or in an appliance. The panel can be installed quickly and rigidly without the need for any special framing. The panel or grill can be installed or removed by the rotation of a single screw which passes through a threaded opening in an elongate fastening arm. The arm extends generally parallel to an inner surface of the panel during use thereof. The arm is pivotable relative to the panel between a first position usable for insertion of the arm into the opening and a second position used for clamping the panel to edge structure defining the opening. A slideway is connected to an inner surface of the panel and limits the extent of pivotal movement of the arm. The screw extends through a hole in the panel and connects the arm to the panel. A spring biases the arm so that it pivots towards the second position.
