Abstract: A manipulating system, for manipulating two telescopic columns into desired positions in particular for use in an X-ray apparatus is disclosed, wherein the system comprises: one or more rails arranged in parallel in a first direction X and fastened to a ceiling; a carriage comprising an upper and a lower section, where said upper section comprises means for travelling along the rails in the X direction and the lower section is rotatable about an axis perpendicular to a horizontal X-Y plane by means of a rotation device arranged between the upper and lower section; —two sliding rails arranged in parallel with a mutual distance between the rails, provided in a lower face of the lower section, where the sliding rails overlap each other in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the sliding rails; —two telescopic columns extendable in a Z direction perpendicular to the X-Y plane, where each column is slidably fastened to separate.
