  • Patent number: 6626463
Abstract: Provided is a seatbelt device capable of reliably securing and protecting a passenger. This seatbelt device has a first seatbelt tension increasing unit (9a) for increasing the tension of the seatbelt (4), and a second seatbelt tension increasing unit (9b, 20, 30) for increasing the tension of the seatbelt (4). When this seatbelt device judges that the collision of a vehicle is unavoidable, it operates the first seatbelt tension increasing unit (9a) before the collision and operates the second seatbelt tension increasing unit (9b, 20, 30) when it detects the collision of the vehicle. Thereby, the passenger is reliably secured to the seat and his/her safety is ensured.

Abstract: An automotive passenger restraint and protection apparatus for an automotive vehicle has a seatbelt and operates to restrain an occupant of the automotive vehicle by the seatbelt to protect the occupant. An electric retractor has a DC motor for retracting and protracting the seatbelt. An MPU applies voltage having a predetermined waveform to the DC motor, and then detects a waveform of current flowing to the DC motor. The MPU carries out fault diagnosis of the DC motor, based upon the detected waveform of current when the voltage having the predetermined waveform is applied to the DC motor. Thus, accurate fault diagnosis of the apparatus can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 6616186
Abstract: A seatbelt device which prevents an occupant from hitting his face against an airbag deploying at the time of a vehicle collision. In order to take up any seatbelt slack before a collision and prevent the occupant from being displaced forward, the seatbelt device comprises a first tension modifier for winding the seatbelt and taking up the seatbelt slack when a collision is predicted, and a second tension modifier for further enhancing the tension of the seatbelt and securing the occupant to the seat at the time of such collision, thereby ensuring that the occupant does not exist in the airbag deployment zone when the airbag is activated.

  • Patent number: 6467850
Abstract: In a through anchor (10), a webbing sliding contact surface (15) is formed by bending in a curved fashion a lower edge of an opening (14) formed in a metal insert (11) toward a side. The through anchor (10) is covered over portions of the metal insert (11) other than the webbing sliding contact surface (15) with a coating resin (13). Accordingly, it is possible to provide a seat belt assembly that can continue to provide good sliding contact between a webbing guide and webbing, with simple construction.
