  • Patent number: 6694480
Abstract: Multiplex transmission apparatus 10 on the transmitting side multiplexes received signals from non-voice signal input output apparatus 14 and voice signal input output apparatus 16, and also transmits the multiplexed signal from communications network 30 by digital portable telephone 12 on the transmitting side. The digital portable telephone transmits a signal per 20 msec, so that multiplex transmission apparatus 10 alternately transmits the voice signal and the non-voice signal at an interval of 20 msec, for example. Multiplex transmission apparatus 20 sorts out the voice signal and the non-voice signal from the supplied signal by checking the error detecting code of the supplied signal. Multiplex transmission apparatus 20 can judge the type of the signal according to the type of the error detecting code, because a different error detecting code is added to each signal.

  • Patent number: 6671289
Abstract: A short cell multiplexing is provided for chiefly transmitting data shorter than the payload of a standard ATM cell (basically the data of less than 48 bytes, but the data more than 48 bytes can be allowed). A standard ATM cell assembler 1 converts various forms of input information into short cells, places the short cells in standard ATM cells efficiently considering their information length, and output them to a B/ISDN network 7. The standard ATM cell disassembler 2 disassembles the standard ATM cells, which are assembled by the standard ATM cell assembler 1 and is input through the B-ISDN network 7, into short cells, converts the short cells into those with the original input information forms, and outputs them to channels. The configuration makes it possible for the short cell ATM cell multiplexing to improve channel efficiency with small delay, and matching to the standard ATM system.

  • Patent number: 6639903
Abstract: An improvement of an ATM transmission system between a mobileservices switching center and a base station in a mobile communication system. A delay time for generating/sending out a cell is minimized to ensure the information quality required for real time transmission. When the transmission interval of a call type a is T, call types b and c whose periods are twice and four time that of the call type a should be transmitted at intervals twice and four times that of the call type a. A transmitted frame assembler/disassembler 104 in the base station prepares transmitted frames 201 each including the cell slots 201-1, 201-2 and 201-3 for transferring the respective call types, and schedules such that the transmitted frames are sent out to a channel 112 at the interval T, thereby enabling the transmission to be carried out without delay.

  • Patent number: 6574226
Abstract: In a device and method for minimizing transmission delay of low-rate data such as voice data and for enhancing the transmission efficiency in multiplexed data communication using AAL type 2 protocol the SSCS of the high-rate data side of an AAL type 2 converter is responsible for addition and elimination of a dummy code field, error correction, and division and reassembly of data unit. A dummy code field and restorative code field are attached to a user data unit which is supplied from the higher layer in a source device, whereby a data unit is prepared. The data unit is then divided into segments 1 to m of a fixed-length, 45 octets. Successive code fields 1 to m are attached to the segments 1 to m, whereby data blocks 1 to m are prepared. The data blocks 1 to m are successively transferred to the AAL-2 converter. In a destination device, from the data blocks 1 to m, the user data unit is reassembled.

  • Patent number: 6560231
Abstract: A multiplex system for multiplexing packets into ATM cells to be transmitted, which can implement effective use of channels corresponding to irregular traffic qualities in services with various types of quality conditions in an actual environment. In response to a connection establishment request (S402), current required bandwidths B1, . . . , Bm are changed to B′1, . . . , B′m by adding the new connection, which causes bandwidths X1, . . . , Xm which are assigned to the channels to be changed. When the desired bandwidth including the requested connection is less than an available bandwidth of the corresponding channel, an assigned bandwidth change processing (S406) is activated to assign new bandwidths in accordance with desired bandwidths. The bandwidth assignment change is carried out by changing ratios of extraction rates of packets from the buffers in the multiplex system.

  • Patent number: 6512924
Abstract: To register current codec types of a mobile station with a network side, the mobile station 11 notifies, when it conducts the location registration or a mobile user replaces his or her old mobile station, a visitor location switching system 5, which is associated with the current location of the mobile station, of the codec types supported by the mobile station 11 using a mobile communication control signal between the mobile station and the mobile network. Receiving the notification, the visitor location switching system 5 enters the update of the codec types into a location register 41 in a memory home station that controls the mobile network 2. The codec types can be thus registered into the mobile network 2 using the mobile communication control signal. Since the mobile network 2 can always acquire the latest codec types for the mobile station, the discrepancy is canceled between the codecs the mobile station supports and the codecs the network registers.

  • Patent number: 6507605
Abstract: A baseband spread modulation signal is input to a matched filter (131). The matched filter (131) despreads the spread modulation signal using the output of a spreading code replica generator (132). The matched filter (131) outputs the despread signals at L timings. The output signals are multiplied by multipliers (201) by corresponding weighting factors output from a weighting factor controller. The multiplied outputs are demodulated by demodulators (202), and RAKE combined by an adder (118). A data decision section (203) generates from the RAKE combined signal a data decision signal. An error signal generating section (204), receiving the RAKE combined output and the data decision signal, obtains an error signal.

  • Patent number: 6483866
Abstract: In a multi-station transmission method and receiver using training signals, a forward signal is transformed in a signal transformation part to two pseudo-orthogonal transmission signal sequences, which are framed in base stations of two adjacent zones and augmented with orthogonal training signals, thereafter being transmitted over the same channels. A signal received by a receiver of a mobile station is separated, by a signal separation part using the training signals corresponding to the respective base stations, into signal sequences received from the respective base stations. The received signal sequences are subjected to an inverse transformation by inverse transformation circuits to obtain two transmitted signal sequences, and one of these signal sequences which has a larger metric is selectively outputted.

Abstract: A mobile communication system can implement broadcasting control that generates broadcast information autonomously in a distributed manner, thereby obviating the need for an RNC (Radio Network Controller). Each base station has an IP address and a base station multicast address. Each base station sends its own system information to all base stations using the multicast address. Each base station generates its broadcast information from its own system information and the system information received from other base stations. Thus, it can generate the broadcast information autonomously in a distributed manner without using the RNC.

  • Patent number: 6453166
Abstract: A decision is made as to whether a radio base station acting as an interference source is present in a macrocell or microcell, so that the interference from a mobile station transmitting high power can be presented in advance. The base station inserts its transmission power value of a forward broadcast channel into broadcast information. A newly installed base station C, receiving a forward frequency band, measures the received level of the broadcast channel, and captures the transmission power value. When the transmission power value is large, the threshold value is reduced (THRb), and when the transmission power value is small, the threshold value is increased (THRa). If the received level L is less than the threshold value, a decision is made that the channel is available.
