Patent number: 10684597Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein provides methods for controlling loads in an IP network that is divided into one or more zones and/or subzones. In one aspect, there is provided a method that can associate a plurality of controllers with one of a plurality of zones. Each controller can be connected to one or more loads. The method can associate each controller with an address. The address can include a network address and a host identifier. The network address for each controller in a first zone can be the same. The method can transmit over a network a control message to each controller in the first zone. The control message can cause one or more operational parameters of the loads connected to each controller in the first zone to change. Related apparatus, computer program products, systems, techniques, and articles are also described.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2018Date of Patent: June 16, 2020Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventor: Chris A. Patent number: 9611989Abstract: A lighting system can comprise a frame, a material attached on a front facing surface of the frame and a plurality of LEDs mounted within the frame. Light emitted from the LEDs is directed to the material from behind the front facing surface of the frame. In some of these embodiments, the material passes a portion of the emitted light thereby causing the transmitted emitted light to appear as if light reflects or emanates from a front surface of the material. A controller is described that controls color of the emitted light to form patterns on the front surface of the material. The plurality of LEDs can include different colored LEDs, multi-color LEDs and RGB LEDs. The RGB LEDs can be controlled to respond to a video signal, thereby displaying a video image on the material. The material comprises a textured material and may possess a three-dimensional profile.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2008Date of Patent: April 4, 2017Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventors: Chris Isaacson, Lisa Isaacson

Patent number: 9101028Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein provides methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for controlling and power lighting units connected to a network controller. In one aspect there is provided a method that may include receiving at a first input power from a power supply; receiving at a second input one or more illumination control packets from a data processing device via one or more network connections; transmitting from a first output power to one or more lighting units; and powering from a second output an illumination level of one or more colors associated with the one or more lighting units in accordance with the one or more illumination control packets via the one or more network connections. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2013Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventors: Chris A. Patent number: 8860209Abstract: Disclosed is a luminaire, comprising a front convective heat sink, a rear convective heat sink, and a removable thin printed circuit board. The front convective heat sink has at least one optical aperture. The removable thin printed circuit board has an electrically-insulated back surface and a selectively electrically-insulated front surface. The front surface has exposed electrical contacts in at least one area corresponding to the at least one optical aperture. The removable thin printed circuit board is sandwiched between the front and rear convective heat sinks with a compressive force.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2011Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventor: Chris Isaacson

Patent number: 8710759Abstract: Disclosed is an illumination controller for use with at least one LED module. The illumination controller includes an input, a control output, and a processor. The command input receives at least one illumination control packet. The control output pulse modulates a signal that powers an illumination level. The processor controls the control output in accordance with an illumination level parameter associated with a first illumination control packet received at the input and a scaling parameter associated with a second illumination control packet received at the input.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2012Date of Patent: April 29, 2014Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventors: Chris Isaacson, Peter Verkaik

Patent number: 8585248Abstract: Disclosed is a luminaire comprising a plurality of side heat sinking panels, a plurality of circuit boards, and a middle heat sinking panel having a plurality of side apertures and having a diffusely reflective surface. Each printed circuit board has an electrically-insulated back surface and has a selectively electrically-insulated front surface having exposed electrical contacts coupled to light emitting diodes. Each printed circuit board is sandwiched between a respective side heat sinking panel and the middle heat sinking panel with a compressive force and with at least one light emitting diode associated with each side aperture directing light toward the diffusely reflective surface for illumination of an area facing the diffusely reflective surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2011Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventor: Chris Isaacson

Patent number: 8344641Abstract: Disclosed is an illumination controller for use with at least one three-color LED module. The illumination controller includes a command input, three color control outputs, and a processor. The command input receives a unitary illumination control command having first, second and third color level values, and a fade rate value. First, second, and third color control outputs pulse modulates respective first, second and third signals that powers an illumination level for each color. The processor, responsive to a control command, transitions the first color control output in accordance with the received command's first color level value and the fade rate value, transitions the second color control output in accordance with the received command's second color level value and the fade rate value, and transitions the third color control output in accordance with the received command's third color level value and the fade rate value. The three colors may be red, green, and blue.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2010Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: NuLEDs, Inc.Inventors: Chris Isaacson, Peter Verkaik
