Abstract: A banknote-handling system includes a plurality of banknote-handling machines (11, 12, . . . ); a plurality of banks (16, 17) for accounting purposes, etc; a co-ordinating central unit (10); a transport system (18, 19 . . . ) for transporting banknotes between the machines and the banks; a central bank (15) for monitoring the activity and banknote-handling of respective banks; and an electronic information and signal transmission system (1-2) for enabling individual and co-operative activities of the units to be achieved. The information and signal transmission system (1-2) is divided into two subsystems. One subsystem (1) includes the transmission of information and signals that relate to and have their basis in transactions between the banks (16, 17) and the general public/businesses relating to their activities in respect of banknote-handling.

Abstract: A system for handling banknote flows with the aid of a banknote handling machine for feeding banknotes into and out of a banknote magazine included in the banknote handling machine. The system includes a central unit which includes a locality that is divided by an inner wall into an outer room and an inner room, with the banknote handling machine being orientated through the inner wall. The banknote handling machine includes a banknote infeed location and at least one banknote outfeed location in the outer room, and a combined banknote infeed/outfeed location in the inner room. The machine also includes a bandnote detector and a banknote packaging unit for treating possibly detected forged banknotes and unusable banknotes.

Abstract: A teller machine for the infeed and outfeed of banknotes having detectors for checking respectively the quality, denomination and validity of banknotes. The detector for checking the validity of a banknote carries out on each deposited and by-passing banknote a check relating to a first number of validity criteria and with respect to a second number of validity criteria. This second number of validity criteria is included in the teller machine as a closed and sealed unit so as to be in a material form available to the validity detector but sealed to prevent unintended access thereto. Banknotes determined to be genuine and of low quality by the respective detectors may be destroyed within the teller machine upon receipt of an acceptance signal from a superordinate unit outside the teller machine.

Abstract: A system for handling banknotes within a geographically limited area, including a plurality of banknote handling machines positioned over the geographically limited area for depositing and withdrawing banknotes. The machines are adapted to separately bundle and cassette-package banknotes of accepted quality, non-accepted quality, and any false banknotes that may have been discovered. A shared information center communicates with the machines to exchange factual data relating to the presence of stored banknotes and cassette-packaged banknotes of the various types, and a plurality of transport vehicles transport the cassette-packaged banknotes to and from the machines in response to orders from the information center issued on the basis of information sent from the machines to the information center.

Abstract: A banknote handling machine having an infeed part for receiving banknotes deposited by a customer from outside the machine and for identifying the customer, a detector unit for checking the validity of the deposited banknotes, a printing unit for printing information relating to the deposited banknotes and the customer, and a packaging unit for encasing and sealing banknotes suspected of being false in transparent packaging material. Transportation of suspect banknotes to the packaging and printing operations is controlled by a process unit such that customer information and information relating to the suspect banknotes is printed on an inner surface of the transparent packaging material, in mirror-image, in conjunction with operation of the packaging unit to encase and seal the suspect banknotes so that, upon completion, the printed information is properly readable from the outside of the package.

Abstract: A banknote handling machine having an infeed part for receiving externally posted banknotes and including a detector mechanism for checking the genuineness, quality and value of posted banknotes. The detector mechanism functions to sort false banknotes and banknotes of poor quality from remaining banknotes. A processor unit controls transportation of poor quality banknotes along a transport part to a unit for storing and packaging the banknotes, and the transportation of at least part of the remaining, genuine and accepted banknotes to a first storage unit for storing and packaging these banknotes in accordance with their denomination. An outfeed part enables banknotes ordered externally via a banknote ordering means to be dispensed from a second storage device. The processor unit controls the transportation of genuine and accepted banknotes primarily to the second storage device in the outfeed part and only secondarily to a first storage device in the infeed part.

Abstract: A banknote handling apparatus including a first unit for receiving banknotes deposited from outside the machine, a second unit for checking validity, quality and denomination of the deposited banknotes, and a third unit for bundling and packaging checked banknotes using a packaging device that has a roll carrying transparent packaging material for encasing banknotes in a closed package so that unnoticeable resealing of a banknote package that has been sealed in the apparatus and then broken open is difficult to achieve. A printing device is located above and close to the roll for printing information relating to the content of the banknote package with each bundling/encasing function in mirror image on an inner side of the transparent packaging material taken from the roll so that the content information is durably printed thereon and readable right-way-up from outside the closed package.

Abstract: A safe for valuable documents having a shell protection around the safe for impeding attempts to force an entry thereinto and processor unit actuated in response to damage to the shell protection to initiate a safe protection function. The safe contains a plurality of units for accommodating documents, at least one of which includes a portable safe deposit box that, when placed in the safe, can be electrically connected thereto. The safe deposit box has a protective shell and a destructive device designed to effect local destruction of documents contained in the box. The destructive device operates automatically in response to damage to the protective shell when the safe deposit box is removed from the safe and an attempt is made to force the box open.

Abstract: A safe for accomodating valuable documents includes one or more units (1-17), each of which is intended to accomodate several valuable documents and is equipped with destructive devices (112-172) for local destruction of valuable documents in respective units when an attempt to break into the safe (1) is made. Each of the destruction devices (e.g. 112) includes at least one container (31) disposed adjacent a valuable document wind-up drum (30). The container includes a peripheral, circular continuous recess or channel (311) intended for destructive material (33) and facing towards the exposed edges of valuable documents. The opening (3111, 3211) of the recess or channel (311, 321) is covered with a ring-shaped plastic or steel net. The recess contains dye capsules (33) and a ring-shaped fuse (3113, 3213) for activation of the dye when an attempt to break into the safe (1) is made.
