Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that permit a transfer of funds in real time, including among accounts held at different financial institutions and among accounts of different types, such as credit accounts and noncredit accounts. A network links multiple financial institutions and routes information related to requested transfers through the network. Protocols ensure that the account from which funds are being drawn in the transfer is able to support the withdrawal and that the account to which funds are being deposited is a valid account without derogatory marks.
