  • Patent number: 5970646
Abstract: An outhaul device for fishing lines, mounted on a vessel and arranged to pull the line successively from a line store and deploy the line behind the vessel. The outhaul device includes at least one pair of wheels which can be rotated about their respective symmetry axes of rotation by respective drive devices, and between which the line can be caused to extend, as it is pressed against the wheels. The symmetry axes are lying in a common plane. Each of the wheels may be tilted about an axis which is lying in the common plane and extends perpendicular to the symmetry axis of the wheel. Also each of the wheels is adapted to be tilted about an axis which is perpendicular to the common plane.

  • Patent number: 5941009
Abstract: A device for deployment of a fishing line, wherein the line is forced below the surface of the water, characterized by a funnel-like tube or channel designated as a shooting funnel (A) provided with an upper (B) and a lower (C) pivotable attachment stay connected to the vessel's stern (D), and wherein the lower attachment stay projects further out from the vessel than the upper attachment stay, thus forming an oblique angle of 63.degree. in relation to the surface of the water, and furthermore that the lower free end of the shooting funnel is provided with a rounded oval collar (F) which is located well below the surface of the water when in operative position, moreover that a slit (H) runs along the whole length of one side of the funnel and serves as a guiding track for ropes for grapnel and line floats when a weight (G) is attached to the outer free end of the fishing line and is thrown into the funnel drawing the line with fish hook and bait through the funnel.

  • Patent number: 5934003
Abstract: A method for baiting fishing hooks by a baiting machine including a baiting station, wherein fishing hooks are pulled past the baiting station by a line which is attached in the hook's eye. The method includes the steps of threading bait at a first end section thereof, bringing the point of the hook into engagement with a second end section of the bait opposite the first end section during an introductory threading of the hook on to the bait, rotating the bait in a first direction about the spike under the influence of the force exerted on the bait by the hook, while the hook simultaneously continues to be threaded on the bait, and rotating the hook in a direction opposite to the first direction by pulling it off the line, until the bait has been threaded on to the bend of the hook. The invention also relates to a baiting machine for implementation of the method.

  • Patent number: 5666759
Abstract: A suspension sleeve for snood swivels, arranged to be installed around a fishing line and to rotate about the line's longitudinal axis. The sleeve (10) is made of a rectangular plate and has two end areas (2, 3) which are facing each other, considered in the sleeve's (10) circumference direction, and which have respective engagement sections (4, 20) which are arranged for releasable, firm connection with each other. One end area (2) comprises a support section (6) for an eye of the snood swivel.

  • Patent number: 4407087
Abstract: A method for attaching detachable snells to a fishing line while the line system is being set out from a moving vessel at sea. The snell and the line have cooperating coupling members consisting of a peg with stop studs rotatably attached to the line and a radially elastic ring attached to the snell, the ring being detachably fastened to the peg by being pressed down into a locked position behind the stop studs. The line is drawn through an apparatus having a peg orienting means, and the pegs pass a discharge opening on a ring magazine where each peg is brought into engagement with the central opening of a discharged ring and carries the ring along with it to pass between two converging surfaces whereby the ring is pressed down into a locked position on the peg. The converging surfaces consist of a pressure surface for the ring provided with a guide/clearance groove for the peg, and a backstop surface for the peg.

  • Patent number: 4277905
Abstract: An apparatus for detaching releasable snoods from a fishing line while at the same time unwinding the snoods from the line, if required, and for depositing the snoods in a storage box continuously as the line is hauled in by means of a winch positioned in front of the apparatus. Said apparatus cooperating with a hook handling means which orients and guides the hooks being drawn along by the snoods, via hook guides, to one or the other side of the circumference of a wheel provided with a peripheral groove for receiving the line, which is drawn over the wheel by a suitable pulling device and sets the wheel in rotation. Each snood having fastening means comprising a peg, rotatably attached to the line, and a ring attached to one end of the snood and detachably retained on the peg. A peg release disk lying resiliently against the periphery of the wheel for partly releasing the said pegs from the said rings.

  • Patent number: 4257336
Abstract: A fluidized bed incinerator is split along horizontal planes into three parts, viz. an upper part, an annular section comprising the region in which the fluidized bed and any pipe coils for cooling the bed are situated, and an underlying windbox. The annular middle section can be readily replaced simply by moving the upper part and the windbox apart, horizontally withdrawing the annular section and inserting a new section. During operation of the incinerator the three parts are clamped together.
