The toilet seat includes a hinge comprising a central hollow duct (102) provided with apertures (132) which face the toilet plan for removal of odours therefrom. The odours are sucked from the toilet through the duct and hose and through a vacuum motor assembly and expelled through an outlet in the vacuum motor assembly.
