Patent number: 4777933Abstract: An access door construction for a gas-fired water heater. The lower end of the outer jacket of the water heater is formed with an access opening and a door or panel bears against the outer surface of the jacket and encloses the opening. Tabs are formed on opposite side edges of the panel and engage the inner surface of the jacket adjacent the opening. In it unassembled condition, the panel is flat and when assembled with the cylindrical jacket, the resiliency of the panel will urge the tabs into tight engagement with the inner surface of the jacket. The panel is formed with a vertical channel having a generally semi-cylindrical cross section. By manually squeezing the sides of the channel together, the distance between the tabs will be decreased to thereby enable the panel to be removed and installed with the jacket.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1987Date of Patent: October 18, 1988Assignee: A. Patent number: 4773977Abstract: An improved anode mounting construction for a water heater. The inner surface of a steel water heater tank is coated with a corrosion resistent material, such as glass, and the tank is provided with an opening which receives an anode rod. The outer end of the anode is secured to a metal cap and the cap is carried by a steel spud which is welded to the outer surface of the tank bordering the opening. The internal diameter of the spud is greater than the diameter of the opening in the tank and a resislent sealing member or gasket is employed to seal the gap between the anode and the annular edge of the tank ordering the opening. The sealing member seals and protects the annular edge against corrosion, as well as protecting the spud, thereby eliminating accelerated consumption of the outer end of the anode adjacent the tank.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1987Date of Patent: September 27, 1988Assignee: A. Patent number: 4773313Abstract: A beverage maker and serving unit system comprising a beverage maker and a portable beverage server. The beverage maker supports a brewing funnel over a platform on which the server sets when positioned to receive a stream of fresh brewed coffee or tea from the brewing funnel. When the system is designed for making iced tea the beverage maker will have a separate outlet for discharging diluting water into an opening in the server when the server is positioned all the way back on the platform. For support, the server has a set of front legs, a set of rear legs, and a set of intermediate legs all of which rest on the platform when the server is being filled. The server also has a lifting bail which cannot be fully raised until the server is filled and moved forward on the platform to where the intermediate legs engage upstanding detents on the front of the platform. When the server is setting back on the platform and being filled, the front legs engage the detents.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1988Date of Patent: September 27, 1988Assignee: Bunn-O-Matic CorporationInventor: James H. Patent number: 4767439Abstract: The invention relates to a flow barrier in the annealing section of a glass tempering apparatus, said annealing section being provided with glass sheet supporting rollers (7) and cooling air blow boxes (1, 3) are disposed above and below a glass sheet, in addition to which there are, above the glass sheets, "false rolls" (8) in the form of a downward open trough, extending crosswise to the traveling direction of said glass sheets. The purpose of "false rolls" (8) is to increase a pressure applied to the top surface of a glass sheet in order to reduce the risk of a glass sheet becoming afloat. A flow along the trough, which increases towards the ends of the trough, results in a non-uniform tempering. The flow is cut off by fitting the trough with partitions (9) spaced from each other.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1987Date of Patent: August 30, 1988Assignee: O/Y Kyro A/B TamglassInventor: Pauli Reunamaki
