  • Patent number: 6748384
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed which utilize a computer executable software program to generate software code for constructing desired summary data for one or more data stores. A preferred embodiment provides a software program that is capable of dynamically creating application software code for summarizing one or more data stores in the manner desired by an end user. Most preferably, the software program enables a user to define a desired summary through a graphical user interface, and the software program then generates the necessary software code for achieving the desired summary. Upon executing the generated software code, a desired summary is obtained, which may be stored within a “summary data store” and/or included within a summary report, as examples. Specifically, the generated software code may be executed to “construct” the desired summary data.

  • Patent number: 6513129
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved fault management system and method. In one embodiment, the system includes a gateway and a management processor system. The gateway is communicatively connected to a network for receiving alarm incidents from the network. The gateway has a rule engine for (1) selecting a control object from a set of control objects based on information from the alarm incident, and (2) processing the selected control object. The management processor system has a processor for processing configuration to objects in response to the selected control object for implementing fault management objectives defined by at least one user.

  • Patent number: 6411922
Abstract: A system and method which examines a user information resource and transforms data objects and object relationships from the resource into optimization metrics for storage in a problem solver database. A resource optimization system comprises a problem modeler having an interface for retrieving user data objects and object relationships describing a user application from a user information resource, a solver database to which the problem modeler has an interface for storing optimization metrics derived from the user data objects and object relationships by the problem modeler, and a problem solver having an interface to the solver database for retrieving the optimization metrics for solving resource optimization problems for the user application.

  • Patent number: 6047279
Abstract: The inventive system and method incorporates artificial intelligence concepts to create a system that automatically integrates new network elements. The system detects the connection of the new element with the system. The system identifies the new element, either directly or inferentially, by examining the protocol, the inputs, and the outputs of the new element, as compared with stored information. The inventive system then either selects the appropriate rule set from previously written rules, modifies an existing rule set from similar elements, or creates an appropriate rule set to integrate each new element into the network. The rule set produced by the system is then used to manage the new element.
