  • Patent number: 8532021
Abstract: Mobile consumer communications devices can communicate their program application data over the voice channel of a wireless communications network. Structured by a protocol suitable for the voice channel, the data are encoded into tones which are transmitted over the voice channel. A server receives the tones over the voice channel, which are decoded into program application data structured by the protocol, and passed to an enterprise application. The server can respond accordingly over the voice channel.

  • Patent number: 8249965
Abstract: A member-supported payment system is available to consumers and merchants without sign-up fees, subscription fees, or transaction fees to either consumers or merchants. In a specific implementation, the member payment system is a mobile payment system where consumers may conduct transactions using a mobile device such as a mobile telephone, smartphone, personal digital assistant, or similar portable wireless handheld device. Merchants will make a refundable one-time contribution. These contributions are stored in a pooled trust account by the system and the float dividends or interest on these contributions will fund the system.

  • Publication number: 20120054102
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for providing payments over a wireless connection. Instant messaging services—such as mobile text messaging—addressed to a command interpretation and processing system are utilized in conjunction with a checkout procedure on a mobile device to enable a user making a payment to simply define and confirm the amount of his or her payment, and the recipient. The checkout procedure can be completed with SMS, Mobile Web, Mobile App or IVR implementation. Previously Registered as well as new unregistered users are supported. The payer, through his or her mobile device, interacts with a system for managing mobile payment transactions that validates the sender and recipient of the funds, the presence of funds in a transacting account and other fraud management and authentication checks, and effects a settlement.

  • Publication number: 20110320347
Abstract: A mobile payment platform and service provides a fast, easy way to make payments by users of mobile devices. The platform also interfaces with nonmobile channels and devices such as e-mail, instant messenger, and Web. In an implementation, funds are accessed from an account holder's mobile device such as a mobile phone or a personal digital assistant to make or receive payments. Financial transactions can be conducted on a person-to-person (P2P) or person-to-merchant (P2M) basis where each party is identified by a unique indicator such as a telephone number or bar code. Transactions can be requested through any number of means including SMS messaging, Web, e-mail, instant messenger, a mobile client application, an instant messaging plug-in application or “widget.” The mobile client application, resident on the mobile device, simplifies access and performing financial transactions in a fast, secure manner.

  • Patent number: 7873573
Abstract: A virtual pooled account is used in operating a system having multiple financial partners. In a specific implementation, the system is a mobile banking system. Instead of maintaining separate general ledgers for each financial institution, the system will keep one general virtual pooled account. This will reduce the settlement and operational costs of the system. The owner of the virtual pooled account will receive the float on the virtual pooled account, and this float will be distributed to the multiple financial partners according to a formula.

  • Publication number: 20100063935
Abstract: Method and system for authenticating the identity of a party to a transaction being executing over wired or wireless networks, using a personal device. A transaction system is adapted to receive messages over a network from a connected device, where the messages are intended to initiate a transaction. The system comprises authentication rules and an associated engine for identifying the type of transaction and, for each type of transaction, whether MFA is required. If so, the necessary MFA attributes are requested, thus permitting completion of the transaction in a comparatively secure manner and also permitting management of the accounts associated with the party.

  • Publication number: 20090287601
Abstract: A system and method for transferring funds among registered and unregistered users of a value exchange system comprises a server system for receiving value exchange instructions from a sender, where the value exchange instructions include a recipient who may not be registered with the system. The value exchange instructions initiate a computer-generated sequence for authenticating the identity of the recipient, permitting the recipient to designate a payment method, and transferring funds to properly authenticated recipients.

  • Publication number: 20070255662
Abstract: A technique is used to ensure the authenticity of a wireless transmission source which is requesting a transaction to be performed by a system. The transaction may be a person-to-person money transfer or other value exchange transaction. The wireless transmission source may be a mobile phone or other similar device. The wireless transmission source transmits a key with the transaction request. The system will determine the authenticity of the transmission based on the transmitted key. If the transmission is determined to be authentic, the transaction will be acted upon. Various approaches for determining authenticity are discussed. The technique may also be used to prevent acting upon duplicate transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20070255620
Abstract: In a mobile payment system, registered users or members may send payment to other member or unregistered users or nonmembers. In a specific implementation, a person-to-person payment system allows existing members of a payment system to send funds to nonmembers with the intent that the nonmember becomes a member. This ability of a payment system may be referred to as “viral” because it promotes new member registrations in an exponential spreading fashion.
