  • Publication number: 20160259289
Abstract: Printing systems and methods for conditioning a recording medium are described. For example, to condition the recording medium, a property of a coating substance to be applied to the recording medium, such as the composition of the coating substance can be adjusted. Further, the quantity of the coating substance to be applied to the recording medium can be adjusted. The quality of a printed image created by the printing system can be improved by adjusting the property and/or the quantity of the coating substance.

  • Publication number: 20160246222
Abstract: Methods and devices for digital printing to a recording medium are described. The printing can use a liquid print ink that includes a flammable carrier. Print control data can be generated from print data and the print control data can activate one or more print groups to print to the recording medium. An areal coverage can be determined based on the print control data. The areal coverage corresponds to a quantity of color applied onto the recording medium. The determined areal coverage can be limited to a predetermined maximum average areal coverage within a predetermined averaging area. The predetermined maximum average areal coverage can be less than a maximum theoretical areal coverage. The recording medium can be heated in, for example, a heating chamber. The predetermined averaging area can be smaller than an area of the recording medium located within the heating chamber.

  • Publication number: 20160246221
Abstract: A method and device for digital printing to a recording medium with liquid print color is described. In a method for digital printing, a print image defined by print data is printed onto the recording medium via application of the liquid print color. After the application of the liquid print color onto the recording medium, the recording medium can be heated to vaporize the carrier fluid. Upon heating, air is supplied that mixes with the vapor to form a combustible gas. The combustible gas can be supplied to a combustion chamber and converted into waste gas. In a method for digital printing, an areal coverage can be determined. The areal coverage describes a quantity of color applied onto the recording medium by the carrier fluid. Further, the air supply can be proportionally controlled to the determined areal coverage.

  • Publication number: 20160231682
Abstract: In a method to adjust print quality of print images in an electrophoretic digital printer with at least one print group, the print group generates charge images of the print images. The charge images are developed with a developer station into toner images using liquid developer having carrier fluid and toner. The toner images are transfer-printed onto a carrier medium in a transfer station. A first control marking is generated on the recording medium with elements of the first control marking being aligned transverse to a printing direction. A shape of the elements of the first control marking is measured to generate a first measurement signal. The first measurement signal is compared with a predetermined nominal value, and given a difference, an adjustment signal is generated via which an amount of the carrier fluid in the liquid developer is modified so that the first measurement signal approaches the predetermined nominal value.

  • Publication number: 20160231685
Abstract: In a method to determine a negative effect on a surface of an image carrier of a print group, a reflection spectrum is determined of a region of the surface of the image carrier, the reflection spectrum indicating an intensity of light for different wavelengths. The light is reflected from the region of the surface of the image carrier. A reference spectrum is determined for the region of the surface of the image carrier. The reflection spectrum is then compared with the reference spectrum. Depending on the comparison, the determination is made whether a negative effect is present at the region of the surface of the image carrier.

  • Publication number: 20160170686
Abstract: In a method to monitor a production system using a monitoring system, status data of components and/or component groups of the production system is received. The components/component groups can have different monitoring program modules. The status data is associated as parameter values with respective defined parameters of a parameter set of the monitoring system. The different status data is associated with a same parameter of the parameter set. The parameter values are checked, with predetermined deviations being assessed as errors. An error is detected if different parameter values are transmitted for a same parameter and at least one of the different parameter values exhibits a predetermined deviation that is assessed as an error. An error priority is associated for error correction with a detected error according to predetermined criteria. The error priority can describe an influence the error has on a production process of the production system.

  • Patent number: 9340014
Abstract: Described are a system and a method to activate an actuator for a first nozzle of a plurality of nozzles of an inkjet printing system. The inkjet printer system can be configured to generate triggers with a frequency for printing of a respective line of pixels by the plurality of nozzles. The frequency of the triggers can depend on a print speed of the inkjet printing system, and the print speed can be modifiable. A time period between two successive triggers can correspond to a total duration available to the first nozzle for an ink firing for printing of a pixel of the line. An indicator for a current print speed of the inkjet printing system can be determined. Depending on the indicator for the current print speed, a waveform for activation of an actuator can be defined to produce an ink firing for printing of the pixel of the line on the recording medium by the first nozzle within the total duration available at the current print speed.

  • Publication number: 20160129698
Abstract: In a method to operate an ink printing apparatus, and in an ink printing apparatus, a recording medium is directed through a printer. The recording medium is subsequently supplied to a dryer having at least one heating saddle and a drying channel arranged at the heating saddle. In the dryer the recording medium is directed past the heating saddle. A negative pressure is generated in the drying channel via an air exhaust arranged at one end of the drying channel. In the printing operation, in a region of the heating saddle a negative pressure is exerted on the recording medium in a direction of the heating saddle so that the heating saddle is then in contact with the recording medium in order to dry the ink on the recording medium. Upon interruption of the printing operation with braking of the recording medium, the negative pressure in the direction of the heating saddle is deactivated at a beginning of the braking.
