Abstract: In a method to determine print resources for creation of a print image via a printing device, print data from which the printing device should create a print image print is determined. A first print resource is identified based on the print data, a resource file of the first print resource including usable data that enable the printing device to determine a graphical depiction of the print image, and the resource file including metadata. The first identifier of the first print resource is determined, the first identifier depending on the usable data of the first print resource, and the first identifier being independent of the metadata. Based on the first identifier, a check is made whether the first print resource is already stored in a storage unit of the printing device.
