  • Patent number: 4177807
Abstract: A restraining belt for securing a patient to a wheelchair, stretcher, bed or similar implement and for inhibiting the accidental uncoupling thereof or the intentional uncoupling by a patient being restrained. The belt comprises a flexible strap of a desired length which is adapted to be passed around the body of the patient and around the implement to which the patient is being secured and has the cooperating parts of a Velcro-type hook and loop fastener elements disposed on opposed surfaces thereof and extending a predetermined distance from the ends of the belt towards its center, such that when the ends are overlapped, the Velcro hook pad abuts the Velcro loop pad. Further included is a flexible, fabric sleeve, having a length generally the same as that of the Velcro pads. The sleeve is attached to one end of the strap at a point intermediate the two ends thereof and can be drawn back or collapsed so as to expose the Velcro pad on one of the ends.

  • Patent number: 4146265
Abstract: An adjustable bracket which is adapted to be mounted with screws between the rear side frame elements of a wheelchair for suspending a catheter bag therefrom and which includes a pair of bag stabilizing extensions for preventing the bag from swinging during use. Because the bracket is adjustable in length, it can be made to accommodate wheelchair frames of varying sizes. In an alternative embodiment, the catheter bag support bracket is pivotally attached to only one of the rear side members of the wheelchair so that it may be rotated from a generally horizontal orientation to a vertical orientation when not in use.

  • Patent number: 4044770
Abstract: An ear curette which comprises, in combination, a generally resilient self-supporting flexible gripping shaft with a wire loop secured to the distal end thereof. The gripping shaft is fabricated from a substantially continuous solid shaft, with the distal end portion having a diameter which is significantly reduced from that of the proximal end segment so as to provide a generally rigid proximal end segment and a generally flexible distal end segment. Preferably, a tapered step is utilized to separate the proximal end from the distal end.
