  • Patent number: 6444081
Abstract: A nozzle for simultaneous application of a string of glue on two facing adjacent disc surfaces, especially for gluing together two optical disc elements to form a DVD. In order to make possible higher glue application rates and smaller dimensions of the glue application nozzle, the nozzle can steer the flow towards the facing disc elements. For this purpose, the nozzle has a channel outlet opening which has upper and lower outlet areas and therebetween a constricted outlet area.

  • Patent number: 6238846
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a stamper for producing optical discs involves the application of a photoresist film to a substrate and subsequently structuring the photoresist film by exposing and developing the photoresist film. The method is characterized in that an electrically conducting substrate is used. The substrate having the structured photoresist film thereon is subjected to passivation treatment, and is further subject to galvanic treatment for the purpose of forming a nickel layer thereon. After the nickel layer is formed, the nickel layer is separated from the substrate so as to obtain a stamper. The stamper can be used to prepare optical discs.

  • Patent number: 6159664
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a matrix for the production of optical disks by applying a photoresist film to an unstructured matrix plate and structuring the photoresist film by selectively exposing and developing said film. When a negatively acting photoresist is used, the matrix may be metal-plated on the surface provided with the photoresist film after structuring of the photoresist film. Structuring of the photoresist film may comprise heating of the selectively exposed photoresist film, integral exposure of the photoresist film prior to developing and heating of the photoresist film following developing. The unstructured matrix plate may be etched, using the structured photoresist film as a mask, after which the photoresist film is removed to produce the matrix. Prior to applying the photoresist film to the unstructured matrix plate a metal film may be applied, to a thickness equal to the height of the structure desired in the matrix.

  • Patent number: 6113749
Abstract: A substrate is processed in a device having a vacuum chamber, at least one sputtering chamber, and a flow channel connecting the vacuum chamber to the sputtering chamber. According to the method, material is sputtered onto the substrate located in the sputtering chamber so that a sputtering gas flux amount is consumed by deposition onto the substrate. Prior to and during sputtering, sputtering gas flux flows into the vacuum chamber so that the total amount of sputtering gas flux flowed into the vacuum chamber prior to sputtering is substantially equal to the sputtering gas flux amount. At least during sputtering, the vacuum chamber is maintained at a partial pressure in a range of from more than 1.times.10.sup.-5 mbar up to 5.times.10.sup.-3 mbar.

  • Patent number: 5906261
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for processing objects, said device being provided with a number of stations comprising supporting means for supporting objects in said stations, and with conveying means, by which the objects can be moved from one station to another station. A transport means, which is capable of rotating movement about a vertical axis of rotation and translating movement parallel to said axis of rotation, is fitted with gripping means for gripping and moving the objects between the various stations. The transport means is supported by at least three spaced-apart carriers, which are in turn supported by sliding pieces, which are journalled in such manner as to be capable of sliding movement in vertical direction. Two hinged-together links are provided between a sliding piece and the frame, one being hinged to the sliding piece, the other being hinged to the frame and both being hinged to a connecting rod which is movable in a plane extending transversely to the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 5868914
Abstract: A magnetron sputtering system comprising a sputtering chamber. Present within the chamber are a flat cathode plate, an anode, which is cylindrical in one embodiment, and an annular auxiliary electrode. The electrodes are provided co-axially. In this embodiment the anode extends axially from a central area of the sputtering surface of the cathode plate. The auxiliary electrode extends axially from a circumferential area of the sputtering surface of the cathode plate. The anode is electrically insulated from the cathode plate. During operation the auxiliary electrode has a negative potential in relation to the anode potential. Furthermore the chamber comprises a receiving device for receiving a flat substrate to be coated with cathode plate material at a position opposite and parallel to the cathode plate. A magnetic device is provided outside the chamber for generating an electron trap around the anode, which magnetic device is surrounded by the auxiliary electrode.
