Patent number: 4411391Abstract: The invention concerns a document shredding machine of the kind comprising two cutter assemblies, each assembly comprising a drive shaft upon which cutter discs are mounted at spaced intervals, the assemblies being mounted so that the discs of one assembly enter into the gaps between the discs of the other assembly with little or no clearance, the machine comprising a drive mechanism to rotate the drive shafts in opposite directions, so that the overlapping discs collectively act to cut material fed into the nip of the machine into narrow strips. One of the cutter assemblies is capable of movement away from its normal working position, whereby when thick documentary material is fed into the nip, as would otherwise tend to jam the machine, the cutter discs may be permitted to separate somewhat allowing the documentary material to pass through the machine without jamming.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1981Date of Patent: October 25, 1983Assignee: Ofrex Group LimitedInventor: Dennis P. Patent number: 4399938Abstract: A tacker has a magazine to contain staples and a striker movable against a spring biassed to eject the staples from an ejection slot. An integral handle and pawl are provided to engage the striker to move the striker against the spring bias, the pawl being disengageable from the striker to release the striker to enable a staple to be ejected. The arrangement is such that the handle and part of the magazine are spaced apart by such a distance that the handle and the magazine can be grasped by a single hand. The handle, on operation of the device, moving towards the magazine.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1980Date of Patent: August 23, 1983Assignee: Ofrex Group LimitedInventor: Howard W. Biddle

Patent number: 4367833Abstract: A tacker which ejects magazines from a staple on operation of a handle by means of a spring biased striker protruding from the ejections slot. The tacker must first be pressed against the surface so that the protruding portion of the striker is pressed inwardly so that a pawl formed on the operating handle can then engage the striker. It is only then that the tacker can be operated.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1980Date of Patent: January 11, 1983Assignee: Ofrex Group LimitedInventor: Alan G. Kenney

Patent number: 4150774Abstract: A trigger-operated staple tacking device comprises a body and an operating handle pivotally connected at one end to the body, operation of the trigger to actute a staple driving mechanism of the device being effected by squeezing the other end of the handle and the body together against the action of a return spring operative to return the handle to a position projecting from the body. The body has a recess to receive the handle when the device is not in use, a movable catch on the handle co-operating with a clip on the body to hold the handle in the recess. The staple driving mechanism comprises a linearly movable staple driving blade and resilient means extending transversely of the path of movement of the blade and biasing the blade towards a staple ejection slot, the blade being movable by the trigger out of the staple ejection slot against the action of the resilient means whereby the blade is driven to eject a staple upon release of the blade by the trigger.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1977Date of Patent: April 24, 1979Assignee: Ofrex Group LimitedInventor: Owen M.
