Patent number: 5118035Abstract: Packaging for flowable material such as flour or sugar is provided by a carton with a removable and replaceable lid. The lid is formed as a single molding of synthetic plastic material and comprises an imperforate rectangular base, a peripherally continuous wall extending upwardly from the periphery of the base, and at least one lip projecting inwardly from the wall adjacent to the top thereof and spaced above the base to enable fingers of a human hand to be inserted under the lip to enable the lid to be removed from the carton. The carton is formed from a one-piece cardboard blank to provide a rectangular body with a closed bottom and an open top into which the lid is inserted.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1991Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventors: Simon Brochu, Patrick K. Patent number: 5066335Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for treating, and in particular for abrading surfaces, utilizing glass-like polysaccharide grits. The invention also extends to novel glass-like polysaccharide products, especially starches, and to processes for the production thereof. Additionally, there is disclosed cross-linked polysaccharide materials and glass-like starches having a substantially occluded water component. Combinations of these various polysaccharide grits and other abrasive grit materials are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1989Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventors: Christopher C. Patent number: 4992281Abstract: The invention provides a highly nutritional unfermented medium protein animal feed supplement by admixing wet corn bran having an abnormally high moisture content with concentrated corn steep to form a moist cohesive but friable mass, the process eliminating a significant proportion of the energy used in and pollution occasioned by prior art process. In a modification, the above unfermented product is subjected to a natural fermentation stage resulting in a fermented supplement which is microbiologically and gravitationally stable for an extended period of time. One further advantage of the present invention is that the corn bran and steep liquor from a corn wet milling plant can be used in the specific amounts as actually produced in the normal operation of the plant, thereby allowing plant efficiencies to be maintained.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1989Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventors: John H. Linton, Nick Hussar

Patent number: 4587332Abstract: The present invention relates to second grade starches and wheat "B" starches in particular which, following conventional modification treatments to produce a correspondingly viscosity-reduced starch, are especially useful in the production of Stein-Hall corrugating adhesives. Corrugated paper board products manufactured using such adhesives have improved properties. In one aspect of the present invention there is provided a modified wheat "B" starch wherein aqueous dispersions of the modified "B" starch have reduced viscosities relative to comparable dispersions of a corresponding unmodified wheat "B" starch, the reduced viscosity not being less than about 12 centipoise grams per cubic centimeter for a specified dispersion.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1985Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventors: Christopher C. Lane, Alexander B. Anonychuk, Peter Unger

Patent number: 4522832Abstract: The present invention involves incorporating lactase enzyme into baking formulations for producing yeast leavened products which formulations include sugar and a lactose-containing dairy product, such as whey, as a protein supplement. During the dough processing, the lactose is converted into baker's yeast-fermentable glucose and galactose and consequently, the amount of expensive sugar substrate usually added to such formulations to provide food for the yeast may be generally reduced.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1982Date of Patent: June 11, 1985Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventor: Bradley W. Patent number: 4486451Abstract: The invention provides a highly nutritional unfermented medium protein animal feed supplement by admixing wet corn bran having an abnormally high moisture content with concentrated corn steep to form a moist cohesive but friable mass, the process elminating a significant proportion of the energy used in and pollution occasioned by prior art process. In a modification, the above unfermented product is subjected to a natural fermentation stage resulting in a fermented supplement which is microbiologically and gravitationally stable for an extended period of time. One further advantage of the present invention is that the corn bran and steep liquor from a corn wet milling plant can be used in the specific amounts as actually produced in the normal operation of the plant, thereby allowing plant efficiencies to be maintained.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1982Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventors: John H. Patent number: 4055667Abstract: A liquid animal feed supplement. The liquid feed supplement, which is gravitationally stable for prolonged periods of time, comprises essentially a colloidal mixture of spent brewers' yeast and a water dispersible water-binding agent in an aqueous alcoholic medium.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1975Date of Patent: October 25, 1977Assignee: Ogilvie Mills Ltd.Inventors: John H.
