  • Patent number: 3935402
Abstract: A loudspeaker voice coil assembly having improved power handling capability is disclosed. The voice coil is wound of rectangular cross section aluminum wire having flexible anodized coating. A thin anodized aluminum retaining cylinder is adhered to the winding of the voice coil with a thin coating of a cement. The anodization serves not only to electrically insulate the turns one from another and from the aluminum, heatradiating retainer, but also serves to enhance the efficiency of the cement bonding. Voice coils capable of continuously dissipating 150 watts rms audio power have successfully been fabricated.
