Patent number: 11073504Abstract: A method for evaluating a degree of transformation ratio of kerogen to oil and/or gas and/or gas to oil generation index using a pyrolysis gas chromatography is disclosed. The method comprises providing a rock sample in powdered form; determining, by a source rock analysis instrument, total organic carbon in said rock sample, remaining hydrocarbon generation potential in rock sample, and a maturity of rock sample; feeding said sample in a pyrolyzer if said sample satisfies a pre-defined condition; analyzing, said sample in said pyrolyzer, by heating said sample at a pre-specified pyrolysis temperature in pre-specified pyrolysis steps and for pre-specified pyrolysis time; determining, by a gas chromatograph, a peak area of hydrocarbons present in said sample analyzed; evaluating, in a said degree of transformation ratio of said sample to oil and/or gas and/or said gas to oil generation index.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2016Date of Patent: July 27, 2021Assignee: OIL INDIA LIMITEDInventor: Neeraj Mathur

Patent number: 11002668Abstract: A method of screening solvents for the solubilization of petroleum hydrocarbons is disclosed. The method includes dissolving petroleum hydrocarbons in a selected solvent to form a first solution, adding an ionic liquid to the first solution and blending to form a second solution and measuring absorbance of the second solution using spectroscopic techniques. The solubilization of petroleum hydrocarbons in the solvent is then determined based on the difference between the measured absorbance of the first and second solution. A system for screening solvents for the solubilization of petroleum hydrocarbons is also disclosed. The system can be used in removal of wax deposition in refinery process equipment, process flow lines, during piping operations, up-gradation of wax, prevention of clogging of pipelines, processing of sludge or for removing sludge from petroleum tank installations and enhancing the crude oil flow.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2019Date of Patent: May 11, 2021Assignees: INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY MADRAS, OIL INDIA LIMITEDInventors: Jitendra Sangwai, Ramesh Gardas, Sivabalan Sakthivel, Sugirtha Velusamy, Srinivasan V Raju, Prashant Dhodapkar

Patent number: 10273782Abstract: A method for preventing wax deposition in oil wells with packers is disclosed. The method includes feeding a motive fluid from a storage tank to an ejector having a converging section for inlet of the motive fluid, a diverging section for outlet of the motive fluid, and a constricted section with an opening in between the converging section and the diverging section; removing a water and water vapor from an annulus of the oil well using the ejector, wherein flowing of the motive fluid through the converging section and diverging section of the ejector creates a pressure loss and increases the velocity of the motive fluid, which creates suction in the constricted section to evacuate water and vapor from the annulus of the oil well, thereby remediating wax deposition in the oil well.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2015Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: Oil India LimitedInventor: Prashant Dhodapkar
