Abstract: The present invention is directed to compositions and methods of treating bacterial, viral, fungal diseases; inflammation or inflammatory-related disorders; pain; and skin conditions. The composition comprises an organic solvent extract, which is prepared by the method comprising the steps of: (a) mixing methionine with water, (b) adding an aqueous hypochlorite solution to the methionine solution and mixing, (c) adding a water-immiscible organic solvent to (b) and mixing, and (d) separating the organic solvent phase from the water phase to obtain the organic solvent extract.
