  • Publication number: 20140049576
Abstract: An ink jet printing method includes providing an ensemble of dots to be printed. A current run is made of through the ensemble of dots to be printed, which includes, for each of dot of the ensemble of dots, deleting all neighboring dots from the current run having a distance less than at least one predetermined value and keeping non-deleted dots as remaining dots in the current run. The remaining dots are assigned to a certain layer corresponding to the current run. The remaining dots of the current run are then removed from the ensemble of dots. The foregoing steps are repeated until there are no further dots in the ensemble of dots.

  • Publication number: 20140028749
Abstract: An ink-jet printer for printing on cards includes a printing station having an ink-jet printhead. A reservoir containing an ink is coupled to the ink-jet printhead. The ink includes: a medium consisting of a low-boiling organic solvent, an auxiliary solvent consisting of a high-boiling organic solvent, and a colouring component soluble in said medium. A driving system is adapted to drive the printhead between a first operative condition wherein the ink ejected by the printhead impinges on the card, and at least a second operative condition, wherein the ink ejected by the printhead does not impinge on the card. A control unit is active on the printhead for commanding ejections thereof, and on the driving system for controlling movement of the printhead. The control unit is configured for commanding an ink ejection in the second operative condition before ink ejection in the first operative condition.

  • Publication number: 20140028745
Abstract: An ink-jet printer includes a printing station for ink-jet printing on a thermoplastic card includes a printhead coupled to a reservoir containing an ink comprising: a medium of a low-boiling organic solvent, an auxiliary solvent of a high-boiling organic solvent, and a colouring component soluble in the medium. A support carriage supports the card and is drivable between a first position in which the carriage does not face the printhead and a second position in which the carriage faces the printhead. A driving motor moves the carriage between the first and second positions along a guide member interposed between the printhead and a reference member to prevent ink ejected by the printhead from reaching the reference member. A detection device mounted on the carriage detects the reference member and generates a signal used by a control unit to regulate the driving motor.

  • Publication number: 20130271526
Abstract: The present invention relates to (i) a reactive ink for ink jet printing comprising a two-component system, the first component comprising a polymerizable monomer, and the second component comprising a polymerization catalyst, wherein the monomer is able to form a polymeric film at low temperature within thirty minutes, preferably within ten minutes, from contacting the catalyst, (ii) a process of making an image on a non-porous substrate using such a reactive ink, and an ink jet print head including a two component ink-system.

  • Publication number: 20130109113
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an ink jet printhead includes: providing a silicon substrate including active ejecting elements; providing a hydraulic structure layer; providing a silicon orifice plate having a plurality of nozzles for ejection of said ink; and assembling the silicon substrate with said hydraulic structure layer and said silicon orifice plate. Providing the silicon orifice plate comprises: providing a silicon wafer having a substantially planar extension delimited by a first and a second surfaces; performing a thinning step at the second surface so as to remove a central portion having a preset height; and forming in the silicon wafer a plurality of through holes, each defining a respective nozzle for ejection of the ink.

  • Patent number: 7008047
Abstract: A substrate (10; 110; 210; 310) for an ink jet printhead comprising: at least three slots (12a, 12b, 12c) of elongated shape, oriented parallel to one another lengthwise in a vertical direction (13); three corresponding actuating banks (16a, 16b, 16c); a plurality of drive circuits (18); and a plurality of terminals (21, 21a, 21b), lesser in number than the ejection actuators (16), connected to the drive circuits (18) for receiving external signals, wherein at least two (12a, 12b) of the three slots are arranged side by side along the respective long edges in an upper portion (10a) of the substrate, and the third slot (12c) is arranged in a lower portion (10b) of the substrate, and wherein moreover the terminals (21) connected to the drive circuits are arranged in a line along the edges (11a, 11b) of the substrate (10) parallel to the slots and therefore to this given vertical direction (13). This substrate has a robust structure and is less likely to crack in the zone of the slots.
