    Abstract: The fuel for internal combustion engines employing electrical fuel ignition and a carburetor and/or fuel injection, comprises a boiling fraction of 30.degree. C. to 200.degree. C., especially 30.degree. C. to 180.degree. C., containing hydrocarbons selected from the group consisting essentially of paraffinic, olefinic, naphthenic and aromatic hydrocarbons and mixtures thereof, and which is free of manganese, lead and iron. According to the invention, the fuel contains methyl formate in an amount in the range of 1.0 percent by volume to 50.0 percent by volume, if desired 1.0 percent by volume to 30.0 percent by volume, and preferably 3.5 percent by volume to 10.0 percent by volume of the fuel.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a device for the step-wise pressure release on the expansion of, in particular hot, gases with highly different volume streams. In a device of this type, reaching or even exceeding the speed of sound is to be safely prevented. This is achieved in that at least two adjustable plate valves are arranged in series one behind the other, that the orifice of each plate valve is arranged eccentrically in relation to its central longitudinal axis, with the orifices of successive plate valves each arranged on opposite sides in relation to the rectilinearly extending, continuous central longitudinal axis common to all the plate valves and that the adjustment of the plate valves is effected as a function of the accumulated volume stream.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an olefinic, polymeric composition and a method for making such polymeric composition wherein the composition includes 10%-90% modified sulfur. The sulfur is modified by the addition of at least one plasticizer and a thiophilic, nitrogen-containing compound as a viscosity regulator. In accordance with the invention, elemental sulfur is modified by the addition of any of several plasticizers in amounts of about 1%-20% by weight based on sulfur and the addition of up to about 5% by weight of a thiophilic, nitrogen-containing compound such as any of various amines or amides.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process and apparatus for purifying and regenerating urea solutions which have been contaminated with biuret and triuret and the like during the use of the urea solutions such as in dewaxing processes. The contaminated urea solution is first contacted with ammonia in gaseous or liquid form and about one to ten percent of the ammonia is absorbed into the contaminated solution. The contaminated solution and absorbed ammonia are reacted in a reactor with heating for a period of time sufficient to complete the reaction of biuret and triuret to produce urea. The purified product solution may then be returned for further use in dewaxing processes. Excess ammonia and CO.sub.2 formed during the reaction process by the decomposition of urea may optionally be separated from the purified solution and from each other with the separated excess ammonia being returned to the absorber for reuse.
