  • Patent number: 12190232
Abstract: Various implementations relate to asynchronous training of a machine learning model. A server receives feedback data generated by training the machine learning model from a worker. The feedback data are obtained by the worker with its own training data and are associated with previous values of a set of parameters of the machine learning model at the worker. The server determines differences between the previous values and current values of the set of parameters at the server. The current value may have been updated for once or more due to operation of other workers. Then, the server can update the current values of the set of parameters based on the feedback data and the differences between values of the set of parameters. Thus, the updating does not only take the training result of each worker into consideration but also makes proper compensation for delay between different workers.

  • Patent number: 12190222
Abstract: A design optimization method based on active learning, which involves dynamic exploration and exploitation of the design space of interest using an ensemble of machine learning algorithms. In this approach, a hybrid methodology incorporating an explorative weak learner which fits high-level information about the response surface, and an exploitative strong learner (based on committee machine) that fits finer details around promising regions identified by the weak learner, is employed. For each design iteration, an aristocratic approach is used to select a set of nominees, where points that meet a threshold merit value as predicted by the weak learner are selected to be evaluated using function evaluation. In addition to these points, the global optimum as predicted by the strong learner is also evaluated to enable rapid convergence to the actual global optimum once the most promising region has been identified by the optimizer.

  • Patent number: 12187446
Abstract: A safe, quiet, easy to control, efficient, and compact aircraft configuration is enabled through the combination of multiple vertical lift rotor assemblies, tandem wings, and forward thrust propellers. The vertical lift rotor assemblies, in combination with a front and rear wing, permits a balancing of the center of lift with the center of gravity for both vertical and horizontal flight. This wing and multiple rotor system has the ability to tolerate a relatively large variation of the payload weight for hover, transition, or cruise flight while also providing vertical thrust redundancy. The propulsion system uses multiple lift rotor assemblies and forward thrust propellers of a small enough size to be shielded from potential blade strike and provide increased perceived and real safety to the passengers. Using multiple independent rotor assemblies provides redundancy and the elimination of single point failure modes that can make the vehicle non-operable in flight.

  • Patent number: 12192258
Abstract: The system controls batch configuration of devices based on roles, such as presenter, in a meeting. The lifespan of such configurations on each device is limited to the duration of the event or associated activities, such as rehearsal, and will automatically revert back to previous pre-batch configuration settings outside the event or once the event ends. In such embodiments, a system can control batch configurations for devices during a rehearsal, then reverts the devices to a pre-batch configuration after the rehearsal and the event. A method for controlling batch configurations of a plurality of computing devices associated with a communication session can select computers of people having pre-determined roles, e.g., presenters, organizers, audience members. The system can configure a subset of devices of the plurality of computing devices to operate using a pre-batch configuration. The system reverts to the batch configuration after a second condition is determined for an event.
