Abstract: Disclosed, among other things, is a computing system that may translate a first message, which is indicative of a first event of a remote application, into a format communicable over a control channel of a cellular network, and may send the first message to a client device over the control channel. Also disclosed is client device that may translate a second message, which is indicative an action to be taken with respect to the remote application, into a format communicable over the control channel, and may send the second message to the computing system over the control channel.

Abstract: A vehicle interior component configured to provide a user interface for interaction with a vehicle system is disclosed. The component may comprise a composite structure comprising a substrate, cover and functional layer. The user interface may comprise a light source/display and an input device comprising a switch and/or control element. The switch may project through a hole in the cover. The functional layer may comprise a soft layer, foam, fleece, fabric, textile, spacer, etc.; the functional layer may comprise a light-transmissive material. The light source/display may provide illumination through a light-transmissive section of the substrate, the functional layer and/or the cover. Illumination may indicate location of the input device. The light-transmissive section of the substrate may comprise illuminated display elements for the light display. Operation of the user interface may comprise an animation effect from illumination of display elements in a sequence.

Abstract: Embodiments include herein are directed towards a method for dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) based timing signoff associated with an electronic design environment. Embodiments may include receiving, using a processor, an electronic design and specifying, via a graphical user interface, a voltage sweep for each power net associated with the electronic design. Embodiments may further include specifying, via the graphical user interface, at least one voltage sweep to be excluded from analysis. Embodiments may also include automatically generating DVFS configurations based upon, at least in part, the voltage sweep for each power net and the at least one voltage sweep to be excluded from analysis.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for generating and retrieving change summary data and aggregated model version data for an infrastructure model. A process obtains a briefcase representing a particular version of the infrastructure model and one or more changesets. The process applies the changeset(s) to the briefcase to construct a briefcase that represents a newer version of the infrastructure model. The process compares the briefcases to generate a change summary indicating modifications between the two versions. Further, the process generates aggregated model version data as the infrastructure model transitions to newer versions. The process updates the aggregated model version data utilizing the change summaries such that the aggregated model version data is comprehensive regarding each element that is and was included in the infrastructure model from its genesis to its current state.

Abstract: Improved watermarking techniques for text content are disclosed. An example methodology implementing the techniques includes selecting a sequence of text characters to form a watermark and representing at least one text character of the sequence of text characters by a code which, when inserted into text content, does not affect the appearance of the text content. The methodology also includes embedding the code which represents the at least one text character of the watermark into text content so that the code enables identification of the at least one text character upon extraction of the code from the text content.

Abstract: A client machine writes to and reads from a virtual disk on a remote storage platform. Metadata is generated and stored in replicas on different metadata nodes of the storage platform. A modified log-structured merge tree is used to store and compact string-sorted tables of metadata. During file storage and compaction, a consistent file identification scheme is used across all metadata nodes. A fingerprint file is calculated for each SST (metadata) file on disk that includes hash values corresponding to regions of the SST file. To synchronize, the fingerprint files of two SST files are compared, and if any hash values are missing from a fingerprint file then the key-value-timestamp triples corresponding to these missing hash values are sent to the SST file that is missing them. The SST file is compacted with the missing triples to create a new version of the SST file. The synchronization is bi-directional.

Abstract: A pseudonym certificate management method, performed by a pseudonym certificate management apparatus interworking with an external server, may comprise: receiving, from the external server, a pseudonym certificate in a state locked based on a root value identifiable only by the external server; periodically receiving an unlocking key for the pseudonym certificate from the external server; activating the pseudonym certificate with the unlocking key; and when the activated pseudonym certificate is abnormal, deactivating the pseudonym certificate.

Abstract: A method includes, responsive to receiving a shortcode from a client computing device, identifying, by a processing device based on the shortcode, computer-executable instructions and one or more geographical locations. The method further includes causing, based on the computer-executable instructions and the one or more geographical locations, the client computing device to generate an order request form filled with the one or more geographical locations received from the processing device based on the shortcode without user intervention and without user input of the one or more geographical locations. The method includes, responsive to receiving the order request form filled with the one or more geographical locations from the client computing device, transmitting, to a vehicle computing device, an order request to dispatch a transportation vehicle associated with the vehicle computing device to provide a transportation service to a user of the client computing device based on the order request form.

Such techniques involve obtaining a current peripheral identifier from an operating system running on the user device, the current peripheral identifier identifying the peripheral device. Such techniques further involve, based on the current peripheral identifier, performing a peripheral recognition operation that attempts to recognize the peripheral device. Such techniques further involve, based on a result of the peripheral recognition operation, performing a peripheral access operation that determines whether the user device is allowed to connect with the peripheral device.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to image recognition, in particular it relates to a method for classifying an obscured object, by identifying an object in an image as an obscured object, calculating a 3D space for the image, defining a 3D coordinate for the obscured object, retrieving a plurality of 3D models from a first database, rendering a 2D model of each one of the retrieved 3D models, calculating a similarity score between the rendered 2D representation and the obscured object, and classifying the obscured object as the object of the 3D model for which a highest similarity score was determined. The disclosure further relates to a device and a computer readable program for carrying out such a method.

Abstract: Presented herein are system and methods for implementing a flight plan initiated beam/null forming antenna. According to an aspect, a terrestrial (i.e., ground) to air communications network can include a beam/null steering antenna that can be configured to operate in conjunction with a spectrum management system to provide one or more communications links between an airborne radio and a ground-based operator. The beam/null steering antenna can also receive the flight plans of aircraft using the system from the spectrum management system. In one or more examples, the beam/null steering antenna can use the flight plan information provided the spectrum management system to determine if a signal received at the antenna is a known desired signal, a known undesired signal, or an unknown undesired signal. In one or more examples the antenna can be configured to direct a beam or null at a particular signal based on the determination.

Abstract: A stack-based conversation engine is provided. The conversation engine enables a voice or text based virtual assistant to create interactive, conversational experiences in an extensible manner. The conversation engine can be used to support a conversation between a user and a virtual assistant. The conversation engine can be configured to receive, from the virtual assistant, a fulfillment request specifying an intent from the virtual assistant; push an item onto a conversation stack stored, the item including an identifier of the intent; execute an action handler associated with the intent to generate instructions to manipulate the conversation stack; manipulate the conversation stack according to the instructions; and store the conversation stack for subsequent processing in support of the conversation.

Abstract: A stator configuration for a motor or generator has a stator core made of a thermally conductive material. The field coil of this configuration is secured to the stator core by a thermally conductive material. A field coil configuration has first and second layers of windings of an electrical conductor in which adjacent flat surfaces disposed generally parallel to the axis of magnetic flux of the coil are in direct contact with each other. The stator configuration and the field coil configuration may be an element of an electric motor or generator.

Abstract: An imaging apparatus 10 for generating an image of a subject including a scanning arrangement which includes an energy emitting source 20 and a detector 22 housed within a housing 12. The housing defines a scanning zone 24 in which the subject is operatively positioned for scanning. A displacing arrangement 36 which includes a U-shaped belt-and-pulley drive arrangement is configured to displace the scanning arrangement relative to the housing 12 in a scanning direction. The housing 12 has a first door and second door defining a substantially linear pathway through the scanning zone. A motor 38 and horizontal drive belts 40 are disposed below the scanning zone and are not displaced relative to the housing in the scanning direction in which the energy emitting source and detector are displaced during scanning such that the displacing arrangement does not restrict or impede movement of the subject through the scanning zone.

Abstract: Systems and methods of (remotely) controlling aspects of pools and spas and of modifying water contained therein are detailed. Internet-enabled access to pool and spa controllers may happen without any need for users to create firewall ports or utilize static internet protocol addresses. Certain networking devices may be configured using a USB connection or SD card, avoiding any requirement for an Ethernet cable or supplying separate power to the devices during configuration. Time-varying data may be obtained in respect of one or more installations and analyzed for various information.
