Abstract: A method for determining an output voltage of a device under test is disclosed. In the method, a first voltage is placed onto a terminal of a resister that is coupled to the device under test and a first current is through the resistor that corresponds to the first voltage is measured. A second voltage is then placed onto the terminal of the resistor and a second current is measured through the resistor that corresponds to the second voltage. An actual resistance of the resistor is computed based on the difference between the first voltage and the second voltage divided by the difference between the first current and the second current. An output voltage of the device under test is calculated based on a magnitude of a measured current through the resistor when the terminal is grounded multiplied by a magnitude of the actual resistance of the resistor.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods of using an ergonomic fore grip/gun handle with a concealable and collapsible bipod. One version can have a tubular recess consisting of a first cylindrical cutout housing the bipod legs when concealed and a sliding piston that deploys the legs and a second cylindrical cutout housing a release mechanism and a void space for other accessories. The release mechanism has a compression spring positioned between the piston assembly and the bottom of the first cylindrical cutout and the compression spring. The legs are connected to the bottom of the piston assembly via a hinge and spring that when released from confinement within the fore grip, causes the legs to expand outward until fully deployed. Telescoping legs allow adjustment of leg length for use on uneven terrain. The grip portion has an outer surface with a flat surface on sides of the grip to provide a more stable grip, assist in orienting the mounted weapon and support pressure pads for lights.

Abstract: Described is a protocol controller that supports calls to a packet subroutine which includes a packet processing engine programmed to retrieve packets from a packet memory and to interpret the packets, a working chain pointer module of the packet processing engine programmed to generate a packet memory address for each packet and a return address register of the working chain pointer module, adapted to store a return packet address. Upon processing a call packet, the packet processor engine instructs the working chain pointer module to save a next packet address of a normal packet flow in the return address register, and instructs the working chain pointer module to generate the packet address to execute the packet routine.
Abstract: The present invention provides a number of techniques for laminating and interconnecting multiple substrates to form a multilayer package or other circuit component. A solder bump may be formed on the conductive pad of at least one of two or more substrates. The solder bump preferably is formed from an application of solder paste to the conductive pad(s). Adhesive films may be positioned between the surfaces of the substrates having the conductive pads, where the adhesive films include apertures located substantially over the conductive pads such that the conductive pads and/or solder bumps confront each other through the aperture. The two or more substrates then may be pressed together to mechanically bond the two or more substrates via the adhesive films. The solder bump(s) may be reflowed during or after the lamination to create a solder segment that provides an electrical connection between the conductive pads through the aperture in the adhesive films.

Abstract: A system for the rapid characterization of multi-analyte fluids, in one embodiment, includes a light source, a sensor array, and a detector. The sensor array is formed from a supporting member into which a plurality of cavities may be formed. A series of chemically sensitive particles are, in one embodiment positioned within the cavities. The particles may be configured to produce a signal when a receptor coupled to the particle interacts with the analyte. Using pattern recognition techniques, the analytes within a multi-analyte fluid may be characterized.

Abstract: Method and system for improving yield of an integrated circuit are disclosed. The method includes optimizing a design of the integrated circuit according to a set of predefined design parameters to generating design points that meet a set of predefined design specifications, analyzing the design points to form clusters comprising the design points, determining a representative design point from the clusters comprising the design points, running a statistical simulation to determine a yield of the design using the representative design point and a statistical model of manufacturing process variations, generating statistical corners in accordance with results of the statistical simulation, and optimizing the design in accordance with the statistical corners using an iterative process.
Abstract: Water soluble analytical agents for chlorine analysis of water are delivered into a sample from a support that is beneficially moved in the sample to assist delivery and mixing. Beneficially, an immediate photometric analysis of free chlorine is provided, and variability of measurements is reduced. Advantageously, the analysis is a touch-free chlorine analysis.
Abstract: Desalination apparatus based on porous restraint panels fabricated from a number of different layers of metal, thermoplastic, or other substances are used as sophisticated heat exchangers to control the growth of gas hydrate. The gas hydrate is produced after infusion of liquid hydrate-forming material into water to be treated, which liquid hydrate-forming material can also be used to carry out all the refrigeration necessary to cool seawater to near the point of hydrate formation and to cool the porous restraint panels. Hydrate forms on and dissociates through the porous restraints. The composite restraint panels can also be used in gaseous atmospheres where, for instance, it is desired to remove dissolved water.
Abstract: A card activated cash dispensing automated banking machine is operative to authorize the installation, use, and/or configuration of ATM software applications and components. The machine may be provided with either an authorization key or a configuration certificate that is generated by a licensing authority. The machine is operative to authenticate the key or certificate prior to granting a user permission to install, run, and/or configure the software. The machine is operative to authenticate a configuration certificate by evaluating a digital signature associated with the configuration certificate. An authorization key may be authenticated by comparing it to a second authorization key generated responsive to inputted license information and one-way hash functions. The key or certificate may be associated with a plurality of configuration rules which specify the configuration software components and parameters for specific ATM software and hardware.

Abstract: A battery-backed write-caching mass storage controller is disclosed. The controller includes a plurality of volatile memory banks for caching write data prior to being written to disk drives. Critical data is stored into a first subset of the memory banks, leaving a second subset of memory banks storing only non-critical data. Critical data is data that must be retained during a main power loss to avoid loss of write-cached user data. Critical data includes the write-cached user data itself, as well as metadata describing the write-cached user data. When the controller detects a loss of main power, the controller causes the critical memory banks to receive battery power, but disables battery power to the non-critical memory banks in order to extend the length of time the critical memory banks can continue to receive battery power to reduce the likelihood of user data loss.
Abstract: A community that is accessed via a portal is disclosed, for maintaining user membership during collaboration on a project. A repository containing resources is provided wherein the data is stored nodes and each node is associated with a collaboration resource. The resources can each have a set of properties or attributes. A content object can be provided for wrapping each node and for specifying what type of resource the node holds data for. A generic control can be implemented in order to handle various business logic for the developer in terms of the collaboration resources. The generic control can deal with the content object wrappers instead of nodes. Developers can use the generic controls in order to obtain an abstracted interface to the content management system API. The generic control can also contain an extensible control for performing CRUD operations on the data nodes.
