Abstract: An IR imaging device includes an optical element receiving infrared radiation from a scene, a filter blocking IR radiation outside of a particular range of wavelengths, an array of sensor pixels to capture an image of the scene based on infrared radiation received through the optical element and filter, the array of sensor pixels comprising a first array of sensor pixels to image gas in within a first spectral bandwidth, and a second array of sensor pixel to sense IR radiation in a second spectral bandwidth where gas is not detected, a read-out integrated circuit (ROIC) and logic circuitry to generate a first image sensed by the first array and a second image sensed by the second array, and gas detection logic to detect the presence of gas in the first image.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing dynamic, prioritized spectrum utilization management. The system includes at least one monitoring sensor, at least one data analysis engine, at least one application, a semantic engine, a programmable rules and policy editor, a tip and cue server, and/or a control panel. The tip and cue server is operable utilize the environmental awareness from the data processed by the at least one data analysis engine in combination with additional information to create actionable data.

Abstract: In a method of forming an access route to the bile duct, a needle is introduced into a duodenum, and the introduced needle is pierced into an oral side projection of a duodenal papilla, which is located at an oral position than an opening of the duodenal papilla. The tip of the pierced needle is made to reach the inside of the bile duct to form a tunnel communicating the duodenum and the bile duct, and a treatment device is inserted into the formed tunnel.

Abstract: A system for calculating cardiac output (CO) of a patient undergoing veno-arterial extracorporeal oxygenation includes measuring first oxygenated blood flow rate by a pump in the extracorporeal blood oxygenation circuit as introduced into an arterial portion of the patient circulation system and a corresponding arterial oxygen saturation, then changing the pump flow rate, such as decreasing, to produce a corresponding change in arterial oxygen saturation (wherein such change is outside of normal operating variances, operating errors or drift), which change in the arterial oxygen saturation is measured. From the first flow rate and the second flow rate along with the corresponding measured arterial oxygen saturation, the CO of the patient can be calculated, without reliance upon a measure of venous oxygen saturation.

Abstract: A drum brake assembly for use with a wheel end electric drive motor arrangement can generate brake dust, which may accumulate on the electric motor and cause heat retention problems that are detrimental to motor performance and longevity. These issues are addressed by providing an assembly including a support attachable to a vehicle axle element, brake shoes pivotally mountable on the support, and a wheel spindle interconnected with one end of the axle element. A wheel hub is rotatable around the spindle, and an electric motor unit is disposed between an end of the axle element and the spindle to produce rotation of the hub relative to the axle element. A brake drum is securable to the hub for rotation with the hub relative to the spindle by way of the electric motor unit. The brake drum includes a circumferential perimeter wall overlying the brake shoes, and a fan rotor is interconnected with that wall for rotation together with the drum and the wheel hub relative to the spindle.

Abstract: A lateral disc cutter for morcellating and decorticating tissue of an intervertebral disc from between adjacent vertebrae. The device can be arranged in a retracted configuration for insertion via an access tube, and in an extended configuration for cutting of tissue in the target region. The blades may be extended to contact the concave endplate in an orientation that is substantially parallel to a mid-plane of the intervertebral disc. Blades of the device may be configured with a convex profile that substantially conforms to the concave shape of the endplate for enhanced contact length between the blade and the endplate. In some embodiments, the blades are configured for removal and replacement without need for tools, with the blades selectively determining a maximum displacement width of the morecellator assembly.

Abstract: A desired range of lift force to raise a window shade is used to select the window shade hardware such as, for example, the optimal LAM. A desired lift force may be 5 pounds for ADA compliance. However, if the user wants to exert less effort to lift the window shade, the user may request an increased lift force of 6 or 7 pounds. Therefore, if a lift force range between 3-8.5 pounds is desired, the system selects the optimal LAM to maintain and guarantee that the lift force required to operate the shades will not exceed the desired range of between 3-8.5 pounds.

Abstract: A method is disclosed that permits calculation of reagent concentrations (in SI units) over time and space within a tissue sample as the sample is immersed in the reagent and the reagent diffuses into the tissue sample. The disclosed method has yielded the surprising result that once a formaldehyde concentration at all points within a tissue sample exceeds about 90 mM during a cold step of a cold+hot fixation protocol, the hot step of the fixation protocol can be commenced to provide reliable detection of molecular targets and preservation of tissue morphology in downstream analyses.

Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses may provide for the intermediated retrieval of applications on a network. A computing device may be configured to receive an application from an application server on a network. Based on, for example, the network conditions between the computing device and the application server, the computing device may query a plurality of intermediary servers. Based on a decision that, for example, the network conditions between the computing device, application server, and a selected intermediary server are better than the network conditions between the computing device and the application server, the computing device may cause the application to be retrieved by a host application of the selected intermediary server. The host application may process and transmit the application to the computing device. The computing device may display the processed application and transmit user input corresponding to the processed application to the intermediary server.

Abstract: A media presentation and distribution system includes a verification server that handles dynamic verification of playback of media assets on a client device. The client device receives an asset stream of media assets that comprises one or more tags embedded in the media assets. The client device detects an asset identifier associated with each of the media assets during playback of each media asset on the client device, based on identification of a tag of the one or more tags. The verification server verifies the playback of the media assets on the client device based on received support information from the client device. The playback of the media assets are verified to satisfy defined asset delivery criteria and to identify and debug a deviation or one or more errors with the playback of the media assets.

Abstract: A switching converter has four switches and a control circuit. The control circuit provides a first drive signal to control a first switch and a second drive signal to control a second switch based on a first set signal, and provides a third drive signal to control the third switch and a fourth drive signal to control the fourth switch based on a second set signal. When an output voltage is larger than an input voltage, an on-time period of the third switch is adaptively adjusted according to the input voltage, the output voltage and a first parameter. When the output voltage is less than the input voltage, the on-time period of the third switch is adaptively adjusted according to the input voltage, the output voltage and a second parameter.

Abstract: A system is provided for publishing a disparate live media output stream manifest that includes one or more media segments corresponding to key events. A start and stop time is obtained for a pre-produced media asset from a live playout system synchronized to a reference clock. Based on a reference time of the reference clock and play events from the live playout system, a normalized event metadata is converted from a play time of pre-produced media asset metadata to the reference time. The play events exists for the pre-produced media asset as start and stop times per the pre-produced media asset support inclusion of non-programming content and restart of the pre-produced media asset during a playout. Start and end messages are transmitted for publishing the normalized event metadata each time the pre-produced media asset is started and stopped during the playout in a disparate live media output stream.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to control operation of a cryocooler/refrigeration system to provide cryogenic and/or general cooling of a device or sensor system. A cryocooler controller includes a motor driver controller configured to generate motor driver control signals based on operational parameters corresponding to operation of a cryocooler controlled by the controller, and a motor driver configured to generate corresponding drive signals to drive a motor of the cryocooler. The motor driver includes a first stage with a first pair of switches coupled serially between an input of the motor driver and a ground of the motor driver, a second pair of switches coupled serially between an output of the first stage and the ground of the motor driver, and an inductor coupled between the first and second pairs of switches, where operation of each switch is independently controlled by the motor driver control signals.

Abstract: A method for optical distance measurement involves transmitting measuring pulses by means of a transmission matrix having a plurality of transmission elements, reflecting transmitted measuring pulses to at least one object, and receiving reflected measuring pulses by a reception matrix. The reception matrix includes a plurality of reception elements each having a plurality of reception sub-elements. The method involves monitoring reception rates of reception sub-elements of the reception matrix for determining a misalignment between the transmission matrix and reception matrix, wherein the transmission matrix and reception matrix define a visual field, and wherein the method is used for the navigation of a vehicle. Monitoring takes place while a vehicle is traveling, wherein the method does not involve the conscious introduction of measuring objects into the visual field for determining a misalignment.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the present inventive concept provide a system for maintaining clock synchronization including an ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitting system and a UWB receiving system. The high precision input clock at the transmitting system produces a high precision clock frequency. A message is sent from the transmitting system including a transmit time of the message in UWB transmitter clock units. The message is received at the UWB receiving system at an arrival time in UWB receiver clock units. A time of flight (ToF) and an oscillator offset is calculated based on the transmit time included in the message and the arrival time. A tuning register uses the calculated oscillator adjustment to adjust the low precision resonator to synchronize the low precision resonator with the high precision input clock at the UWB transmitting system.

Abstract: A cardiovascular graft is provided, such as a prosthetic heart valve or blood vessel, that comprises mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and/or progeny thereof, modified to knock down or knockout expression of the telomerases reverse transcriptase gene (TERT), or otherwise reduce activity of TERT.
