  • Patent number: 11652830
Abstract: The application is applicable for use in conjunction with a system that includes connected vehicle communications in which vehicles in the system each have an onboard processor subsystem and associated sensors, the processor subsystem controlling the generation, transmission, and receiving of messages communicated between vehicles for purposes including crash avoidance. A method is set forth for determining, by a given vehicle receiving messages, the occurrence of misbehavior, including the following steps: processing received messages by performing a plurality of plausibility determinations to obtain a respective number of plausibility measurements; determining at least one context for the region at which the given vehicle is located; weighting the plurality of plausibility measurements in accordance with values determined from the at least one context to obtain a respective plurality of plausibility indicator values; and deriving a misbehavior confidence indicator using the plausibility indicator values.

  • Patent number: 11552805
Abstract: A form of the invention is applicable for use in conjunction with a security credential management system that produces and manages pseudonym digital certificates issued to vehicles and used by vehicles to establish trust in vehicle-to-vehicle communications, the security credential management system including a pseudonym certificate authority processor entity which issues pseudonym digital certificates to vehicles, a registration authority processor entity that validates, processes and forwards requests for pseudonym digital certificates to the pseudonym certificate authority processor entity, and a misbehavior authority processor entity that receives misbehavior reports from reporter vehicles that include information about the reporter vehicles and suspect misbehaving vehicles and is responsible for producing a list of revoked credentials; the pseudonym certificate processor entity and registration authority processor entity participating in producing linkage values to be contained within the issued pseudon

  • Patent number: 11223605
Abstract: The invention is applicable for use in conjunction with a system for connected vehicle communications in which each vehicle in the system is issued a limited number of unique pseudonym certificates that are used by the vehicle to establish trust in messages sent by the vehicle by signing each message with a pseudonym certificate. A method is set forth for selecting a pseudonym certificate for use, from among the vehicle's pseudonym certificates, so as to protect the privacy of the vehicle's activity against attacks by eavesdroppers, including the steps of: tracking and storing vehicle location data; computing, from inputs that include the vehicle location data, the vehicle's relative achievable anonymity in particular geographical regions; prioritizing the pseudonym certificates; and selecting a pseudonym certificate for use from among the pseudonym certificates having a priority that is determined by the relative achievable anonymity for the geographical region in which the certificate is to be used.

  • Patent number: 11018875
Abstract: A method for producing linkage values to be contained within pseudonym digital certificates of a security credential management system for connected vehicles, including the following steps: providing a linkage value function that expresses linkage values as a function of a number of input parameters that include a linkage seed input from a pseudonym certificate authority processor entity and a plurality of inputs from a registration authority processor entity including a vehicle identifier and at least one index relating to a time period for the linkage value; producing a Boolean circuit representative of the function for a particular combination of the number of input parameters; and executing a garbled circuit protocol on the Boolean circuit between the registration authority processor entity and the pseudonym certificate authority processor entity, whereby the pseudonym certificate authority processor entity privately derives a linkage value for the particular combination of the number of input parameters.

  • Patent number: 10924287
Abstract: A method is set forth for signing and subsequently verifying a plurality of digital messages, including the following steps implemented using at least one processor-based subsystem: selecting parameters including an integer q, a relatively smaller integer p that is coprime with q, and a Gaussian function parameter; generating random polynomial f relating to p and random polynomial g relating to q; producing a public key that includes h, where h is equal to a product that can be derived using g and the inverse of f mod q; producing a private key from which f and g can be derived; storing the private key and publishing the public key; producing a plurality of message digests by hashing each of the digital messages with the public key; for each message digest, producing a digital signature using the message digest, the private key, and a Gaussian noise polynomial related to the Gaussian function parameter; and performing a batch verification procedure utilizing the plurality of digital signatures and the public

  • Patent number: 10595200
Abstract: A secure vehicle communication system relies on credentials to provide security. A credential includes a private key and a digital certificate. A generic credential file format that is generalized to hold information from multiple credential file formats is provided. Various optimizations enhance the efficiency of the security system, keys may be pre-derived to reduce latency and digital certificates may be sorted and pre-loaded to reduce start-up time. An API may be provided to provide a common interface that abstracts away hardware dependency of secure hardware.

  • Patent number: 10277403
Abstract: A method for signing and subsequently verifying a digital message, including the following steps: generating an irreducible monic polynomial f(x) of degree n in a ring Fq[x]; generating an irreducible monic polynomial F(y) of degree n in a ring Fq[y]; producing first and second finite fields as Fq[x]/(f(x)) and Fq[y]/(F(y)), respectively; producing a secret isomorphism from the first finite field to the second finite field; producing and publishing a public key that depends on F(y); producing a private key that depends on the secret isomorphism; producing a message digest by applying a hash function to the digital message and the public key; producing a digital signature using the message digest and the private key; and performing a verification procedure utilizing the digital signature and the public key.
