Abstract: The invention relates to an access control system for use in restricted areas (400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900) and industrial environments comprising at least one controlled electrostatic field sensor (100) connected to at least one antenna (1); wherein said antenna (1) is configured as a single electrode, such that said sensor (100) measures the disturbances in the electrostatic field around said antenna (1) in a particular direction, and wherein the controlled electrostatic field sensor (100) is configured for detecting a disturbance in the electrostatic field generated by its own antenna (1). The sensor (100) is connected to a control device (40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90).
