Abstract: An elevating and clewing continuous log turner includes a mainframe having a movable frame adapted for vertical or horizontal translation relative to the mainframe. A rotating group is mounted in the movable frame. The rotating group has a passageway therethrough. Roller arms are pivotally mounted around a perimeter of the rotating group. The roller arms concentrically clamp the log relative to the rotating group to thereby rotate the log about its longitudinal axis simultaneously with selective rotation of the rotating group. At least one actuator horizontally and vertically translates the movable frame relative to the mainframe.

Abstract: A feed-roll mounting mechanism for a machine which curve-cuts logs into boards, wherein the feed rolls are mounted in a fashion which permits selective lateral (axial) shifting along their rotational axes.
Abstract: A canter capable of curve-cutting featuring rotary, power-driven frustro-conical chipper heads for chipping a workpiece, which chipper heads are adjustable under the influence of movement structure to achieve five degrees of freedom of motion and adjustment which take into account the different topographical characteristics of different workpieces.
Abstract: A lumber workpiece charger system for an edger wherein transfer of a workpiece occurs under rapid non-jolting control for pieces positioning, with the workpiece, throughout its delivery, clamped in proper orientation for hand-off to the edger.
Abstract: A chipper wherein the rotary head has its rotational axis inclined slightly from being normal relative to a log's transport axis and a stationary guide plate, disposed centrally within the knives in the head, parallels such axis to support the side of a log.
