  • Patent number: 9900890
Abstract: A radio communication apparatus capable of alleviating a burden in setting a transmission format and suppressing increases in the scale of the apparatus. In this apparatus, space multiplexing adaptability detection section detects space multiplexing transmission adaptability for divided bands obtained by dividing a communication band to which Ns subcarrier signals belong in multicarrier transmission and to which a plurality of subcarrier signals belong, and outputs the detection results. Transmission format setting section sets a transmission format when carrying out radio transmission based on the detection results from space multiplexing adaptability detection section.

  • Patent number: 9900136
Abstract: The present invention relates to cellular radio communication and in particular to providing information on neighbor cells to enable terminals to perform neighbor cell measurements. In the prior art the terminal attempts to make neighbor cell measurements in a reference signal structure that is the same in the neighbor cell as in the cell the terminal camps in. The present invention is based on the insight that the reference signal structure may differ between neighboring cell for example in the situation of an MBSFN area that is restricted to a region of all cells of a radio network, or in the situation of TDD mode being applied there may be different regions with different allocation of sub-frames for transmission in the uplink and downlink directions. The present invention solves the problem by broadcast information in a cell indicative of the reference signal structure in neighbor cells.

  • Patent number: 9900915
Abstract: Apparatus for use in a mobile radio station includes a memory to store a table of adaptable associations between control information and code sequences. A data processor detects a condition and dynamically adapts one or more of the associations in the table stored in memory between control information and code sequences depending on the detected condition. A transmitter transmits one of the code sequences selected based on the dynamically adapted one or more of the associations.

  • Patent number: 9874441
Abstract: A time-of-flight laser distance device includes a laser transmitter, a laser pulse return detector to receive reflected laser pulses, and comparators with respective first and second trip levels. A preliminary distance to a target is based on a linear ramp as a function of lapsed time from laser pulse generation through an effective time period wherein an associated return pulse is detected. Time-of-flight values associated with a leading edge of the return pulse are obtained at each of the first and second trip levels. A time difference is determined between the obtained values, and a correction factor is applied with respect to the preliminary measured distance based on the determined time difference. A dual ADC may be used wherein the leading edge of the return pulse is calculated by measuring a slope associated with the time-of-flight values and extrapolating a slope origin to a zero crossing point.

  • Patent number: 9867212
Abstract: A semi-persistent resource scheduling (SPS) allocation of a user equipment is deactivated in an LTE-based mobile communication system without requiring changes to the Physical layer-to-MAC layer interface and/or changes to PDCCH formats agreed by the 3GPP. A combination of NDI value and MCS index is defined that commands release of SPS resources. An alternative solution proposed defines a special transport block size that when signaled in a PDCCH commands release of SPS resources.

  • Patent number: 9853848
Abstract: In a multi-carrier wireless system, potential problems from reconfiguring mobile station resources to accommodate changes in component-carrier configuration are mitigated by inserting a guard period each time the configuration of component carriers changes, so that transceiver reconfiguration can be carried out without interfering with ongoing transmission. A base station is configured to transmit data to a mobile station according to a first configuration of two or more component carriers, to determine that a change of configuration to a second component-carrier configuration is required, and to signal the change of configuration to the mobile station, using the first configuration of component carriers. The base station then refrains from transmitting data to the mobile station during a pre-determined guard interval of at least one transmission-time interval subsequent to the signaling of the change of configuration.

  • Patent number: 9853775
Abstract: A method is provided in a receiving node for handling status information of data units transmitted from a sending node to the receiving node over a radio link. The receiving node establishes (401) that a number of data units that has been transmitted by the sending node are missing. The receiving node sends (402) a reduced status message to the sending node over the radio link, which message is reduced such that it comprises the negative acknowledgement for a first part of missing data units and omits negative acknowledgements for the rest of the missing data units. The omitted negative acknowledgement for the rest of the missing data units will not erroneously be interpreted as correctly received data units by the sending node.

  • Patent number: 9847901
Abstract: A method and an apparatus determine a time of start of series of OFDM symbols forming an OFDM packet, wherein one or more symbols of the OFDM signal includes a plurality of copies of a short training sequence made of a plurality of time-domain samples. The method includes determining a coarse time index, determining a fine time index, and determining the time of start of each OFDM symbols based on the fine time index. The coarse time-domain sample of the coarse time index is within a coarse estimation error interval, and the time-domain samples of the coarse estimation error interval are converted into frequency domain samples. A metric value is determined for each frequency domain samples, and the fine time index is the time index corresponding to one of the coarse estimation error interval having its associated frequency domain sample having the lowest metric value.

  • Patent number: 9814033
Abstract: A method for efficiently transmitting and receiving control information through a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) is provided. When a User Equipment (UE) receives control information through a PDCCH, the received control information is set to be decoded in units of search spaces, each having a specific start position in the specific subframe. Here, a modulo operation according to a predetermined first constant value (D) is performed on an input value to calculate a first result value, and a modulo operation according to a predetermined first variable value (C) corresponding to the number of candidate start positions that can be used as the specific start position is performed on the calculated first result value to calculate a second result value and an index position corresponding to the second result value is used as the specific start position. Transmitting control information in this manner enables a plurality of UEs to efficiently receive PDCCHs without collisions.

  • Patent number: 9807688
Abstract: A random access procedure between a mobile terminal and a network is performed based upon the characteristics of a RACH preamble. If the RACH preamble was explicitly signaled by the network, a downlink channel is monitored until a new transmission is indicated according to radio resource allocation information received from the network. If the RACH preamble was not explicitly signaled by the network, a contention resolution timer is started and the downlink channel is monitored until the contention resolution timer expires. Such monitoring of downlink channels in a more efficient manner, results in effective reduction in power consumption.

  • Patent number: 9800687
Abstract: In a method for improving the transmission efficiency in a communication system with a layered protocol stack, data packets are processed on an upper protocol layer. Data packets are forwarded to a lower protocol layer for transmission and the transmission is performed with variable channel access delays. The upper protocol layer is notified by the lower protocol layer when a transmission is started to allow a synchronization of timers in the upper protocol layer. If a layer performs a scheduling of data packets for the transmission, a rescheduling is performed alternatively or in addition during a channel access delay. Devices and software programs embodying the invention are also described.
